Finding this massive chamber deep underground in this abandoned slate mine, the sheer size of the space down here is quite remarkable.

A look down this 18th century gritstone dressed engine shaft we located somewhere in derbyshire reaching a depth of 61 meters, the mine was primarily worked for lead until it's closure sometime in the 1920s.

One of the guys lighting up this flooded incline in this abandoned metal mine. Impressive to see the cart still in situ just below the water level.

Looking down from a narrow ledge over this 120ft deep flooded winze in this abandoned lead mine last worked in 1844.

Old hand operated winch left beside this deep hole in the floor of this collapsed section of level in these old fluorspar workings. The winze would have continued down to a lower level and the winch would have been used to pull the ore up. We descended to the bottom and it didn't seem to be very productive.

Into the giant and down the pot in this large network of natural passages below the peak district.

Finding this large constructed brick archway deep in this abandoned mine. Hard to say what this was built for it's very unique, I wonder if it was used for service or the base for winding gear? It would have continued further but it has now collapsed.

Long lost miners steps flooded with clear blue water to an unknown depth, this would have been a way down to the deeper levels in the workings, now unknown as to what's at the bottom.

Making our way to the bottom level through this heavily timbered stope in these old mine workings, you can still see the remains of the miners platforms higher up from when they worked the stopes.

One of the team lighting up this deep blue flooded chamber from inside this abandoned slate mine. I wonder how deep down this actually goes?
