Hi all,

We had a great afternoon out at Foxton Locks, one of the Midlands’ most iconic canal landmarks. The weather was perfect and the whole place had a beautifully serene feel about it — a brilliant spot for anyone who loves capturing history and scenery in one frame.

From the 10‑lock staircase to the wide countryside views, there’s something fascinating around every corner. It’s a place where engineering and heritage meet, and it makes for some really striking photos.

We also enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Foxton Locks Inn, which added to the relaxed feel of the day. Here are a few of my favourite images from our visit — hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Hi all,

We had a lovely walk down Cromford canal yesterday (25/04/26). Started at Cromford Wharf car park and made it all the way to Aqueduct Cottage. A lady I met at an event a few years ago told me about the Cottage so it is somewhere I wanted to visit - and it was well worth it.

In 1996 local villagers formed The Lea Wood Trust to save the site from development, raising £115,000. In 2012 Lea Wood and the cottage were gifted to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. Between 2013 – 2016 reports, planning and fundraising began, including a global effort and a “Buy a Brick” campaign. Major restoration work started between 2018 – 2021 with the interior restoration starting in 2022. In 2023 the fully restored cottage was opened to the public. An incredible 7,000 volunteer hours contributed to the project.

Amazingly an old work colleague was steering the narrowboat!

Here's a few pics from the walk and a couple of the cottage.

Hi all, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Its that time of year where I review the photos I took during 2025.

It was another good year where sales were strong and again we met loads of wonderful people at the fairs that we attended. As usual we did two events at Swarkestone but we also attended successful gift fairs in Melbourne and Darley Abbey. Online sales were also good, both on my website and my Etsy store. I have also been featured a few times in Derbyshire Life Magazine.

During the review I decided to put a short 2 minute video together for my YouTube channel - please take a look, give it a like (if you like it!).

Thanks again for your support - it truly means the world to Mandy and myself.

Here's wishing you all have a great 2026 - Happy New Year.

Cheers.

James and Mandy x
