Someone told me "it goes so fast" when I was pregnant with my girls, and I remember nodding along the way you do when you've heard something so many times it stops meaning anything.

Turns out, I really had no ideas what they actually meant. Not really. Not until I watched two five year olds trying on their school uniform like they'd done it a hundred times before, while I desperately tried to work out where the baby part of them had actually gone.

Nobody warns you that it doesn't happen in one big moment. There's no single day it clicks. It just is, gradually, until suddenly it already has.

This is why I say (like a broken record) you will never look back and regret having the photos. You will only ever wish you'd taken more.

Which bit hit you the hardest? Tell me below ⬇

The behind-the-scenes work that never shows up in the final gallery and all that goes into making your session go well happens before the camera even comes out.

I keep the studio warm well in advance because a chilly room is the fastest way to an unsettled baby. I never work to a strict shot list or a clock. If your baby needs 10 more minutes to settle, we take ten more minutes. I build in feed and soothe breaks without anyone having to awkwardly ask for one. And throughout the whole session, I'm following your baby's cues rather than forcing a pose that isn't working.

None of that makes it into the photos. But it's the entire reason the photos look like way they do. Calm, natural, real.

If you're booking a session anywhere, please ask your photographer how they handle this stuff. It matters more than the backdrop.

✨️ To hold a baby is to hold the whole world in your hands, if only for a moment ✨️

There is something incredibly special and still about this image. A forever reminder of this exact moment.

For nine months (well 10 if we're being pernickety) you wondered who they'd be. What they'd look like. Who they'd become. And then suddenly, they're here. And it's already hard to remember a time before them.

This is the newborn bubble. That beautiful blur of love, pride and the quiet honour of being chosen as their parents.

Thank you to this beautiful family for trusting me with something so precious. For opening up your hearts and letting me in to your story during one of the most tender weeks of your lives. Sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do.

So tiny. So precious. So loved. And what a head of hair 😍

Honest version, not the highlight reel... I don't miss the families who say "we'll do it when things calm down" and then 3 years pass. I don't miss watching that window quietly close.

What I do miss, genuinely, is the version of this job where I get to say it plainly to someone before it's too late: the right moment isn't the future one. It's now, while they're still this small, while your hands still fit all the way around theirs.

And I completely get it. As a parent, even just as a human! Life is expensive right now, and a photography session can feel like something that can wait. But here's what I've learned, both as a photographer and as a mum whose girls went from newborns to starting school in what felt like 5 minutes: things don't really settle down. They just change into a different kind of busy, but that small window you had is gone.

I'm not trying to guilt anyone into anything. I just want you to have the chance to look back and feel glad you did it, rather than wishing you had.

Which side are you on right now? If it's the "we'll get round to it" side, let's change that. Drop me a comment, send me a message or head to the link in my bio and let's get you booked in.

Autumn, I have been waiting for you!! The evenings are drawing in and preparations are in full swing for this year's Christmas Mini Sessions.

There's no dates yet (soon, I promise!) but I wanted to tease you with some gorgeous images from last years sessions.

This year, the set is getting a refresh, but the heart of these sessions stays exactly the same. It's still about your little (or big) one, the way your family looks at each other and always the genuine connection.

Tell me, what's the one small thing about this season you're most ready for?
