Coastal erosion is getting more and more attention, but it is far from something new. I merged two photos. One that I took this month (August, 2026) and the other from the early 1900s, if not earlier.
Those who live near or have visited Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, will know this spot.
It is interesting to see how close the coastal damage came to destroying structures that I am sure many people now deem 'part of the furniture' of Bridlington promenade.
The other photos show the before and after of the work done to halt the erosion, and the photo I took shows how it looks today.
