Tulips at Dyrham 🌷🌿✨

Dyrham Park is looking particularly resplendent at the moment, with both its formal and informal gardens coming alive in a sea of spring tulips. My friend asked me which I preferred, the formal parterre setting or the wildflower meadow style setting - and honestly I couldn’t decide, I loved them both for different reasons!

Set against the golden stone of the house and rolling Gloucestershire countryside, it’s a proper seasonal showstopper and such a short distance from Bath 🌷🏛️🌿

Who’s already excited for wisteria season…? 💜

Sydney’s 🧡🤩🙌✨ I’m still dreaming about the crab 🦀

A very lovely evening spent in the company of the gorgeous and at Sydney’s in Bath.

I have to say that I absolutely adore the indoor/outdoor vibe on the roof terrace. I’ve always enjoyed that cosy feeling you get when you feel like you are somehow cheating the elements, but as these evenings get lighter, it’s only going to get more enjoyable ✨✨ especially while we are in the kind of season where you don’t know what’s coming next 😅☔️⚡️🌬️☀️😎

Apart from the impeccable service from our very lovely host, Deity (give that woman a prize!), the standout for me was the whole baked Devon crab thermidor with parmesan crumb — rich, indulgent, and perfect paired with a chilled crisp white.

A beautiful setting, a relaxed atmosphere, and genuinely excellent food.

On this occasion, Gifted. But often choosing to spend my money here.

Time is running out to see the and exhibitions at the - you’ve only got to the 4th and 10th of May, respectively.

I liked them both but was for obvious reasons consumed by Don’s images for sometime. I also went to the event held by the Holburne at the as part of the “a conversation with…” which provided some quite fascinating insights into Don and his view of his photography.

Such a fab night at the for the Loire wine tasting evening last night. So fascinating to be shown around a region of, in some cases, tiny, boutique producers creating some incredible flavours.

What was interesting to me was that of the wine we had there were two I thought would be my stand-out favourites (a Sancerre and a Pouilly Fume) and actually a muscadet chinin blanc turned out to be my fav… so helpful when you are shown by an expert!

Thanks go to the Architect team for (as always) being the hosts with the most, and to Charlie of whose passion and knowledge was inspiring to listen to.

The ticket price included 6 glasses of wine, all from the Loire and represented great value for money. The cost does vary for each event based on the region, but I will certainly be looking out for future events as it made such a great night bringing friends together in this way.

The event does not include food but when the architect team offer such delectable food, it’s hard not to order nibbles or dinner as well.

This event was gifted, but I’ve discovered I’d happily pay to attend one in future!

A quick spin around the quintessential town of Mells, Somerset.

You know when you’re in a cute village, when even the bus stop is thatched. Tbh it also looks like it would make a great shelter from a passing storm, it was so robust! 🛖

The village sports a magnificent church, with an equally magnificent pub (The Talbot Inn - a pub). It also has a Manor House (remains in private hands) detailed, with pictures, in a post from the here: https://bit.ly/4lK5MnP in case you are feeling nosey.

I’ve never been known to let an equine sculpture sneak past me without being suitably papped… and this one was a glorious surprise, a fabulous bronze memorial to Edward Horner. The family connected to the Manor House.

I had never been to Mells until this occasion, but I definitely want to go back and spend more time there, but especially in the pub!



MELLS, SOMERSET: Set in wooded countryside near Frome, Mells is a well-preserved Somerset village with a long association with the Horner family of Mells Manor, whose influence still shapes its stone cottages and landscape. At its centre, St Andrew’s Church, Mells reflects a wider cultural history, with memorials linked to figures such as Siegfried Sassoon. Once connected to local quarrying, the village today is better known for its calm, understated character and strong sense of continuity.

I had a fab weekend visiting a dear friend who annoyingly lives far too far away 🤣 though that gives me a good excuse to grab her and go to which was as charming as ever. I fell rather in love with much of the antiques, art, pottery and textiles, not to mention the lovely gardenalia. Lovely to chat

And what a venue! The walled garden at Cowdray is really pretty, not to mention the incredible ruined castle one walks past to get in

We enjoyed coffees at , the brocante, and a lovely pub lunch. Always such a tonic to see H, can’t wait until the next time

To be honest, I can generally speaking, take or leave a sauna. Not that bothered. I prefer a steam. But INFRARED. Now you are talking.

I can’t say everyone will have the benefit that I enjoy from it, I have a few rare and chronic conditions that essentially mean my body basically feels like it is resisting me.

When I have had infrared it’s like my body isn’t resisting me anymore. I get to feel normal for two days and it’s absolute bliss. I can’t say this is how it will make everyone feel, but for me, it makes a noticeable difference. I’d like to test if frequent use would make overall improvements.

This experience was gifted. At the experience is very nice. The cabin is nicely put together and they have thought of the things that make nice differences like providing floor mats and eye goggles. There is no toilet in the cabin, but there is one you can use at the other end of the car park in Well Bath.

Because I have no remaining natural cortisol response I don’t think it is safe for me to use a cold plunge bath (I’d need to ask my consultant) but I notice they have two, one ‘cool’ and one ‘cold’ - I dipped a toe in cool and could not believe what people are putting themselves through 🤣😅🙈

The sauna fits two people with loads of room (but you can book it for 3 max) and has all sorts of things you can customise, many of which I didn’t try because I was chatting away, but you can play music, adjust the temperature and put on the red light therapy lights on the back of the door. One session is 60mins and a suggested plan is on the wall for those wishing to follow it.

The membership pricing on the site is somewhat difficult to understand. Basically Bronze gives you two sessions a month for £64, but if two people go, this brings the cost down to £16 per session, per person.

All-in-all it was a fab thing to do, definitely made me feel better and I will go back.

Doors and entrances. I’m not sure entirely sure why I’m so drawn to them, but there is definitely a certain charm. Perhaps it’s the sense of home behind. Or how surprisingly unique they can be, even when there is an entire row of townhouses - if you stop to look, they each have their differences.

Folk go to varying degrees of effort, but in Bath we are lucky to have many beautiful heritage artefacts remaining; stunning carved doors and windows, bell pulls, wrought iron lamp arches, boot scrappers, and of course the Bath stone sets it all off perfectly.

Well this is a nice thing to do. Open this weekend only, the Bath Art Fair is on for its annual artist showcase at the Pavillion. Get along to see work from incredibly talented folk from all sorts of genres. Definitely something to suit all tastes. Here are a few that really caught my eye.

“Banksy’s Mum” for hilarious naked caricatures (no one got naked 😉) featuring the very lovely and

Hey all, how are we settling into the new year? Hope all is well. I must say I was definitely more of a fan of the freezing cold, blue skies, high pressure weather we were having… but tbh Bath is delightful regardless. So here are some moody views of the Royal Crescent.

Ps. Who is looking forward to the new ‘Saving Country Houses’ show on C4 this evening. I will definitely be tuned in!
Pps. A bumper week for TV as the Netflix Seven Dials show will drop on Thursday as well!
