I’m finding a new trend in event photography, no flash, and no posed photos. Makes it way harder to shoot, but also way more interesting. Pulling out my 35mm and 85mm prime lenses a lot lately.

I was so sad to hear of the sudden passing of legendary Squamish Logger Sports speed climber Brian Bartow. I didn't know him well, but I've taken his photo many times over the ten years I've been photographing Logger Sports, son I put them together in a little blog post.

A remembrance of Squamish loggers sports athlete and tree climber Brian Bartow.

In the Vancouver Conference Centre tonight banging off business headshots as fast as I could. 1,450 frames in two hours. Really a shame to cover up that view.

Had a blast at the Drag in the Mountains show tonight.

I have to admit I have a real thing about drag shows. Really, what’s not to like, gloriously over the top performances, amazing costumes and energy. Apparently I’m not the only one, the crowd at the Whistler Olympic Plaza was nearly overflowing despite the rain and chilly weather. Tech Stuff: On...

Had a blast at the Pemberton Slow Food Cycle today.

Crowds at the Pemberton Red Barn, a famous wedding venue. Tech Stuff: Travelling by bike meant travelling light. Two Nikon Z6 cameras, one with a 35mm f/1.8 S lens and the other with an 85mm f/1.8 S. I kept the camera with the 35mm around my neck the whole time and was literally shooting […]

I was off shooting the Squamish Loggers Days events last week.

I started my career as a newspaper photographer at the old Squamish Times (long since folded) in 1990, then came back 25 years later to be the photographer at the Squamish Chief until the pandemic nixed that. In the time in between, I worked as a photojournalist all over the world, but I’ve always...

Some photos from the Pique's Pemberton Readers Choice edition.

Every summer, the Whistler Pique Magazine publishes a Pemberton Readers Choice edition (the Squamish Readers Choice is over Thanksgiving, and the Whistler Readers Choice runs is the New Year’s Day feature). I’ve had the gig to photograph it for the last five years and it’s one of my favourite ...
