Today is Father’s Day, and it made me think about something I notice so often during family sessions.
Fathers are usually the ones making things happen in the background - carrying snacks, making kids laugh, helping everyone relax, taking photos on their own phones… and sometimes forgetting to step into the frame themselves.
But when I photograph families, I’m always reminded that children rarely remember the perfect details of a day. They remember how they felt.
They remember who was there.
One day these photos become more than images. They become proof of childhood - of being held, protected, loved, and growing up with someone who showed up again and again in ordinary moments.
That’s why I believe photographs matter so much.
Not because we’re trying to preserve perfection, but because we’re preserving presence.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures creating memories their children will carry for a lifetime 🤍
