One cool thing about being a photographer is that you get to witness and sometimes even be apart of special moments in people's lives. And then once in a while you get to be apart of your own family's special moments. ❤
I am so thankful that Aunt Ann asked me to celebrate her birthday in August 2014. My mother and I joined her along with her daughter - my cousin, and my Aunts -( her sisters) on Nancy's back porch . We had tea and yummy desserts. Aunt Ann also requested I take some pictures which of course I happily did. She insisIted that she pay me, even after I argued that she was family and I didnt want payment. It was a beautiful day, and I had a nice time visiting with my Aunts and cousin sitting in Nancy's backyard. I especially remember the fruit dessert made with egg whites because it tasted soooooooo good! Now that Aunt Ann has gone to be with the angels, I will cherish this memory - and these photos - forever. 💛

Today I found out that MARCH 4th was "Spread the Word to End the Word" day to increase awareness and to eliminate the use of the r-word… “retard”. There is NO RIGHT WAY to use this word, regardless of context... It is not only derogatory towards those with intellectual and developmental disabilities but it also hurts those of us who love and work with individuals with disabilities. I advocate for INCLUSION and RESPECT. I am spreading the word to end the word, for all of the individuals who I support within various agencies. It's not too late, you can still take the pledge at r-word.org to eliminate the “r-word” from your vocabulary and help spread the word to end the word. I just did!

I have been known to get "down and/or dirty" to get the best shot; But those pictures taken from the top of buildings or the top of your sailboat's mast just give me the wi***es!! ;p

Some photographers will do WHATEVER it takes to get that shot... like the 21 brave, soaked, and at times questionably sane souls in this collection.
