Season of the witch

Every October we visit the Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival. It’s been our tradition with Jackson for several years. Though he’s no longer with us, we wanted to keep his tradition going as a way to think of those memories each year. Last year Franey joined him as a young puppy. This year she carried on the tradition in his honour.

They’re only here a fraction of our lives so spend as much time as possible with them

We’ve had a busy few weeks of dog sports, including workshops and 3 trials.

Franey and Memphis both played in a Happy Ratters trial couple weeks ago, earning titles and points toward their next titles as well. It was super fun, Halloween themed, had a Thanksgiving potluck and camping on site. We’ve been looking forward to it all year and can’t wait for next year.

Last weekend we spent the weekend at a cottage by the lake for Franey to attend the Nova West Kennel Club’s CKC Sprinter tests. She earned her Sprinter title.

This weekend we headed to the East Coast Sighthound Association’s CKC Sprinter tests where Franey earned the Advanced Sprinter title.

Earning titles and accomplishing goals are fantastic, but the real joys of dog sports are having fun with your dog and the community it can introduce you to. Trials don’t always go to plan, there will be messy parts, you’ll make a mistake, something unexpected will happen. But when you find that supportive community, they will be there to hype you up, lend a hand and help set you and your dog up for success. I’m thankful we’ve found that group of people in our dog sport journey.
