I actually can’t believe I haven’t even shared this session.

I photographed this sweet family back in November last year, which means it’s almost been a whole year. How has that happened!?

I remember Natasha mentioning during their session that she was already missing the newborn stage, even though her littlest was only 9 months old. I’d only just had Atlas myself, so that one really stuck with me.

And now, with Atlas at 11 months old, I completely understand what she meant. I am truly missing those newborn days too.

It’s funny how quickly these seasons move. You’re right in the middle of them, just trying to keep up, and then suddenly you’re looking back wondering where the hell the time went.

I remember this session being such a fun one with this beautiful, laid-back fam. Just playing at the beach, soaking up the last light of golden hour and enjoying each other. Honestly, the kind of session I could happily photograph every. single. day.

Anyway, nearly a year later, I thought it was probably time I finally shared part 1 with you.

This month I celebrate 10 years since I began a photographing families and officially opened the doors to this beautiful little business.

Although you may know me today as Reverie Photos, this journey began a decade ago as Madeleine Imogen Photography.
Over the years, it has grown and changed alongside me, becoming Dear Lola Photography, then Maddy Hayes Photography, and eventually finding home as Reverie Photos in 2022.
Each name was chapter in my story, shaping the work I create today, but every version of this business had the same heart..
A love for preserving the fleeting, ordinary, extraordinary moments that make up our lives.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve been invited into so many different seasons of life, from couples beginning their story together, to welcoming new babies, to watching those little ones grow into their own personalities.

This business has walked beside me through so many seasons of my own life too, through change, growth, being a mum and learning to juggle work with personal life, moving homes, and finding my way back to who I am and what matters most.

To every person who has invited me into their lives over the last ten years, thank you.
Thank you for trusting me with your memories, allowing me to capture your stories and all the quiet, in-between moments that pass by far too quickly.

A decade later, I still feel incredibly lucky that I get to pick up my camera and preserve these little pieces of life. And I’m so grateful for every story that has brought me here.

I realised recently that with some new faces around here, I haven’t properly introduced myself in a little while.

So hey, I’m Maddy!
I’m the person behind Reverie Photos. The one usually carrying a camera, probably covered in sand after a beach session, and promising “just one more photo” before taking another 20.

A few things you might not know about me...

-I’m a mum to two boys, a lover of fantasy novels, house-plants, the ocean and mountains (thank you Wollongong, for giving me both), and a good chocolate chip cookie.
-I’m happiest when life feels a little slower, a quiet morning with a good coffee, a walk outside, or a cosy night at home with my favourites.
-I grew up in Victoria, moved to Tassie when I was 18, and eventually made my way to Wollongong three years ago. I feel very lucky that my office can sometimes be a beach at golden hour.
-I love writing and have recently rediscovered it again. One day, I’d love to write my own fantasy novel!
-I believe that photographs are more than just images. They’re a way of holding onto the people, places, and seasons that shape us. Whether they live on the walls of our homes, tucked into a keepsake album, or carried with us in our pockets.

Okay my friends! A little (big) update from me!

I’ve been working on this for weeks and weeks during Atlas’s nap times, and I’m finally finished and ready to share it with you!
I’ve completely overhauled my website, updated my branding, and redone my entire client workflow and session guides.

I’m so excited for what’s to come with Reverie Photos and to share more of my plans with you… but one step at a time!

I’m really proud of the work I’ve put into this. It finally feels like everything aligns with who I am as a person and the why behind this little business of mine.

Also… I’ve officially finished maternity leave, and my booking calendar is now open!
