Chapter Three: The Autumn Edit

I’ve been talking about this one for weeks and I’m so excited to launch it!

Thursday 14th May
Cambewarra Village
9am til 1pm

Its a sisterhood story

We meet for coffee and a chat through your goals.
We shoot
Then we sit down together for an editing and colour theory session
And the content hour
+ snacks (the obvious draw card 😅)

Some shoots I’ve shown up to and honestly wondered ‘who the hell are you’ when I start to talk to my clients.

Because there is no way if they knew who I was, they’d have booked me.

But when I started showing up as not only who I am (slightly unhinged first born daughter with raging ADHD and a touch of Daddy issues) but also what I want to do (creatively inspired shoots that focus on storytelling with emotive, moody images) I started to see that the right people were finding me.

Not because I posted more.

Not because I was the right price

But because people actually wanted to shoot with me.

The amount of clients who were like yeah, your photos are good (obviously 🙈) but I booked you because I wanted to feel comfortable with who was taking out photos was wild.

Every other enquiry started with ‘we are dairy farmers’ or ‘we’d like photos at our family farm’

And I was like F**K YES!!! 🙌

So yeah, you should probably start actually showing what you want to do, not what people keep booking you for 🤷‍♀️

If you’re rocking up to a session and thinking who the fudge are these people and how did they find me, it’s got to do with your messaging.

For so long, I thought the right thing to do was to cater to everyone, make everyone happy, say yes all the time.

But all that did was make me pi**ed off every time somebody had the nerve to be an unaligned client.

But like, dah!

What did I think I was going to get?

Dream creative shoots, when all I posted was my newborn work?

Haha, no.

So if you’re wanting to start booking clients that actually fit your vibe, let’s chat! I’m a photography educator who doesn’t just tell you how to use a camera, we go all in.

Far out do I miss it.

When my kids were just this tiny.

When they could fit between my chin and my knees.

Just the other day as Dusty climbed into our bed for the 487th time at midnight, I wondered how we got here?

How can he climb out of his own bed, walk to our room (creepily whisper in my face MUMMY)and snuggle in when once upon a time, he couldn’t even see?

Now, I have to snuggle him up so tight to fit him in.

There are so many things that steal from us, but I must say the theif of time is the most bittersweet.

What I’d do to hold that tiny baby just one more time.

A different type of session 🪶🍄🪷

Even though my daughter is an absolute menace sometimes, I couldn’t think of a set up that would better capture capture her. So when I was planning my last shoot along, I wanted to plan something that lent into a bit of whimsy without being too ‘girly’

A touch of fairy tale magic with these gorgeous blooms, made by my friend along with a tea party, dancing and a red cowboy hat. All held at the spectacular

I want you to remember these days in all their joy.

Just this morning, I was pushing my kids on the swings, thinking wow, how lucky are we to have this life. Then 20 minutes later, as they demanded ice cream for breakfast, I had to remind myself ‘you’ll miss these days’ 😂😂😂

All the toys out by 7.30 and covered in glitter by 8.

I’m really trying to romanticise it all, rather than rush through.

This was apart of my music inspire shoot and Dylan was thrilled when I said we are starting on a tracto with a long neck 🍻

When I first saw the boathouse, I immediately saw this exact shoot. Candles lit and slowing down.

It’s funny, I’ve never thought of myself as a creative person, but then I see some of the work produced from our session and think hey, maybe I am, just a little.

I’m so proud of my first shoot along and am thrilled to be adding some new creative concepts soon. I had the best weekend and can’t wait to see more 🕯️

We had an incredibly fun, special and intimate shoot with the best people and it just goes to show that you don’t have to be sternly serious to have emotive images. You can still have fun and joke around, and that’s what makes everyone feel comfortable to get creative 🪶
