Race tracks are nothing new to me... but spending an entire weekend behind the lens at a kart track? That was a first.

What a way to kick things off.

The Bundaberg Kart Club put on a fantastic event as host of the 2026 Panelfab Queensland Kart Championship, with two days of incredibly close racing, fierce competition, and plenty of action from start to finish.

A special mention has to go to the Cadet 9s. Their final race this afternoon was an absolute masterclass in clean, hard racing. If these young drivers are anything to go by, the future of Australian motorsport is in very good hands.

A huge congratulations to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event happen, to all the competitors who stood on the podium, and to every driver and team who made the trip to Bundaberg. It was a pleasure to be there and capture the weekend through my camera.

Here's a small selection of shots from Saturday and Sunday's racing. I hope you enjoy them!

It was my first time shooting at Queensland Raceway, and I couldn't have picked a better weekend for it.

The Shannons SpeedSeries delivered plenty of action across the weekend. Saturday night was something special though. Not long after the flood lights took over the rain began to fall, and the racing really heated up as the GT4's raced into the darkness, creating a spectacular scene for both competitors and photographers alike.

Here's a small selection of shots from an unforgettable weekend at QR.

Finally made the trip down the highway to Gympie Speedway last night. It’s been on the bucket list for a while and, now being so close, I figured it was the right time to get down there for the first time.

I very nearly left the camera in the car, but I’m glad I went back and grabbed it during the interval. Even shooting through the fence for the final round of heats and feature races, I still managed to come away with a few shots I’m pretty happy with.

Being the end-of-season event, things will go a little quiet around the speedway scene for the next few months — but I'm already looking forward to October when the wheels will be in motion again.
