With the first round of this weekend, I figured it was time for a quick update on the rig—it’s been a bit quiet here lately.
I had these bold plans to have it ready in about 3 months… having zero idea how to build a car and starting with basically no parts. Safe to say progress has been slower than expected, but I’m totally okay with that.
Right now, with fuel prices and interest rates being what they are, it’s taken a slight back seat. My fiancé travels interstate for uni a few times a year, and that always comes first over this money-pit childhood dream. Family > everything.
As it sits: motor’s ready to fire, interior’s done (took forever because I wanted it to look as factory as possible), and I just need to round up the last bits of running gear. Once it’s moving under its own power, the rest should feel straightforward.
I’ve already spent more than if I’d just bought something pre-built and ready to race—I’ve watched cars come and go, could’ve been out there turning laps with a trailer and some change left over. But that’s not what I wanted. I wanted to build something that’s truly mine, pour my own blood, sweat, and tears into it, and be proud as hell when it’s done.
I’m not the half-arsed type—best job first time, every time. That’s why the interior alone took so many days, and it’ll carry through to the engine bay details and the bodywork too.
Still heaps to do and more cash needed, but I can promise you this: the car will be racing this year.
Massive shoutout to .93 93 for the help and support so far—can’t wait to start chasing some wins!
P.S. If anyone’s keen to put some real estate on the car, there’s still space and I’m open to sponsors. Hit me up!
