a moment with A Moment With gives people a private, collaborative place to capture and preserve the voices, stories and moments that matter most.

It brings voice, story, photo, video and reflection together, so memories can be shared now and kept over time.

A photo of a father and son can show them standing beside a car. It can’t tell you why the son still waits for Dad’s explanation, even though he knows what to do.

That is often where the story starts. In the familiar instruction, the question nobody has asked yet, or the pause before someone says what they mean.

Those details don’t always belong in a public post. They may matter most to two people, or to a family who understands the voice behind them.

At A Moment With, we’re building for that kind of connection. A place to add the words and perspectives a photograph can’t hold, and share them with the people the Story is for.

Choose a photo that leaves something important unsaid. Start a Story in A Moment With and add a voice Moment explaining what it means to you.

“Why did you call me that?”

Mum starts with the answer she has always given: “We just liked it.”

Her daughter waits. There must be more.

There is. Another name they nearly chose. A disagreement on the way to the hospital. The first time Mum said this one aloud while holding her.

“Did I look like me?”

Mum hadn’t expected that question.

Some stories start because a child asks one more thing at bedtime. They’re worth keeping in the voice that answered.

Start a Story in A Moment With about how your child got their name. Add a short voice Moment with the answer you’d want them to hear, including the part you usually leave out.

The graduation photo has the gown, the smile and Dad standing beside her.

It doesn’t have the station car park at 9.40 pm. Or the food he brought because she’d gone straight from work to class.

Some nights she talked all the way home. Some nights she got in, put her bag at her feet and said nothing. He learned when to ask and when to leave the radio on.

After the ceremony, she asks what he remembers about getting here.

He doesn’t start with today. He starts with the night she said she wasn’t sure she could keep going, then got up and went back the next morning.

She hadn’t known he remembered that.

A milestone has more than one story. With Dad’s permission, open the graduation Story in A Moment With, tap Add and record his voice while you’re together. You hold the phone. Ask: “What do you remember about getting us to this day?”

He has checked the oil plenty of times on his own. With Dad beside him, he still waits for the instructions.

“Wipe it first.” Then the pause while Dad finds somewhere to put the rag.

He knows what comes next. What he doesn’t know is who taught Dad. So he asks.

Now they’re talking about Dad’s first car, his own father leaning over the bonnet, and a lesson that has somehow made it into another driveway.

The photo shows them checking the oil. A recording keeps the explanation, the side story and the voice he knows so well.

Next time you’re doing something together, ask Dad who taught him. With his permission, open your family Story in A Moment With, tap Add and record a voice Moment. You can hold the phone while he talks.

He calls it quality control. Everyone else calls it sitting down while we fold.

It started with him checking whether the towels were “dry enough”. Now any job that can be watched from the sofa falls under his department.

The washing is on the good seat. He’s very kindly offered to supervise.

Which completely ordinary chore has acquired its own job title at your place?

“It saved us twenty minutes.”
“We had to reverse past the same house twice.”

Mum would like it noted that she suggested the main road.

Every family has a story nobody is allowed to tell uninterrupted. The corrections are often the best bit.

Our latest article looks at why making room for another version gives you a much better family Story. No referee required.

She didn’t make a speech. She has quite a lot to say.

About the groom practising his “casual” entrance behind the venue. The flower girl giving him a very firm “walk slower”. And the bride’s face when she heard about it later.

None of that made it into the formal photos.

At the reception, find a quiet spot away from the music and ask a guest: “What happened today that the couple didn’t see?”

If they’d rather talk than use an app, hold the phone for them. Open the wedding Story in A Moment With, tap Add and record their voice as a Moment, with their permission.

No speech voice required.

There is no official version of this lullaby.

Nan changes the words. Her daughter comes in half a line early. The little one only knows the ending, which she sings much louder than everything else.

It is not the sort of family moment anyone thinks to post. It is exactly the sort they recognise the second they hear it.

If the person telling the story would rather sing than use an app, do the phone part for them. Open the family Story, tap Add and record their voice while you are together.

They were meant to be sorted into keep and throw out.

Instead, one key brought back the front door that needed a shoulder. Another belonged to the caravan with the orange curtains. A faded tag said MILK BAR, although nobody agrees whether it opened the shop or the back gate.

By the end, nothing had been thrown out and four family stories had been told.

Which key would your family start arguing about?

Download A Moment With and begin with one object whose meaning needs someone to explain it.

Every family has a photo that captures the least interesting part of the story.

This one caught the barbecue before the dog stole the sausages. It missed Dad dropping the tongs, Claire shouting from the table and two siblings spending the next twenty years disagreeing about who was supposed to be watching him.

The photograph is useful. The different versions are what make it theirs.

Open the Story in A Moment With, tap Add and invite the sibling who remembers it differently to contribute their Moment.
