Imagine them looking at your extended family portrait 20 years from now.

Most kids don’t sit still, so we don’t make them. Problem solved!

If you’re putting off family portraits because you can’t imagine your little one happily sitting still and smiling on cue, good news: we’re not expecting them to!

Early childhood sessions work best when we work with their energy rather than against it.

We give little ones room to move, explore, play, cuddle, giggle and occasionally do the complete opposite of what we’ve asked 😉 We’ll gently guide things when we need a particular grouping or portrait, then let the session loosen up again.

Knowing when to direct and when to simply follow the action is a big part of what we do.

So please don’t worry about perfectly behaved children. Bring us the wriggles, curiosity, cheekiness and chaos.

That’s childhood, and with us, it photographs beautifully.

Treasure the moment 💛 Sometimes it’s as simple as an afternoon outside together.

The light filtering through the trees. Your kids wandering ahead, then coming back for a cuddle. A laugh that catches everyone off guard. That beautiful flare of sunshine arriving at exactly the right moment.

Your family is your legacy. Our professional portraits treat it that way.

There’s often a flurry of photography when our children are little. Then somewhere between primary school, high school and growing independence, the family portraits become fewer and further between.

But this version of your family matters too.

Older teens bring their own style, humour and personality to a session. The relationship has evolved, the dynamic has changed, and you’re capturing not only who they are becoming, but who you all are together right now.

Studio or outdoors? There’s no wrong answer, just a different look and feel (spoiler: they both deliver magical results ✨).

If staying cosy is high on the priority list during winter, our Leichhardt studio gives you a warm, weatherproof space with classic backdrops and a timeless finish. It’s especially handy when little ones are involved and you’d rather not negotiate with the forecast!

But don’t rule out the outdoors just yet. Sydney is beautiful in winter, with soft natural light, fewer hot and sweaty faces, and plenty of room to move, explore and play. We can also choose the right time of day to make things a little warmer and more comfortable.

Our Tween & Teen Portrait Sessions aren't about asking them to stand still and smile nicely for the camera. We make them part of the creative process with creativity baked right in with elements that reflect who they actually are.
