“On January 26, show your support, raise the ❤️-💛-🖤 flag, bring a sign or push a bike.. push for change!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚲 I’m very excited to have been shortlisted in the Sydney Rides photo competition which showcases images with scenes and stories from people who ride, inspired by the bike. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✊🏾 I’ve selected this image that I took on January 26 this year during a rally in Redfern.
It’s about riding a bike, about getting involved in public affairs, making a statement.. pushing for a change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏆 The overall winner will be announced by Lord Mayor Clover Moore at the Sydney Rides Festival program launch on Thursday 6 September. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖼 Selected images will be exhibited in the Sydney Rides Gallery at Paddington Reservoir Gardens during the Sydney Rides Festival (6 – 27 October). Come & check it out :)

Winter on the Central coast is beautiful. It’s sunny, you take off your shoes, dip your toes in the chilly sand and as you watch families with kids playing at the beach, the brave ones even swim!.. a lovely breeze comes from the sea, the water touches your feet.. and you almost feel like you’re reborn. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧐 But don’t be mistaken, it does get cold and you should wear comfy warm clothes. I come from central Europe with cold winters where temperature easily gets down to minus 10 degree. Temperatures here are nothing compared to that and I do love OZ winter days.. at the same time I really suffer at nights haha, especially with no heating at our place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤗 What’s your favourite weather?

“Like a shipwreck or a jetty, almost anything that forms a structure in the ocean, whether it is natural or artificial over time, collects life.”
🗣 Sylvia Earle ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔕 But as it collects life, it also appreciates silence. Enjoying a break from those fishermen trying to make a catch, locals strolling around and beneath on those white sand beaches, playing go fetch with their dogs.. or kids.. now there’s just silence. And I even turned on the “silent shooting” on my camera as I was catching some see breeze and enjoying my walk! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👍🏽 Happy Monday, hope you’re all having a great start to your week!

🌅 Adelaide beaches are my favourite. (Carrickalinga being the heaven on earth..) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙏 I always appreciate quiet, dog-friendly beaches with little to no waves at all! Especially after I almost drowned at the Coogee beach in Sydney.. but that’s a different story haha ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌅 Sunsets at the beach are always spectacular, especially for someone like me who grew up in central Europe in a land locked country. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙌 There’s something magical about the last sun rays reflecting on the water and seeing the colours change in front of you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👀 Seagulls searching for some last minute dinner, locals walking their dogs and people like me trying to get that one last shot before calling it a day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🗣 What’s your fav beach activity and do you enjoy it in winter too?

🐄 Cattle stations are a vital part of the Australian outback and it wouldn’t be a proper outback trip without visiting one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we were heading for Marree, we stopped at the .station ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🐫 This station is huge, about 1,500 sq km and was home to some of the first camels in South Australia brought here by Afghan cameleers.
Crucial in opening up the central part of Australia, Afghani cameleers helped with building of telegraph and railway lines. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💡 But.. these ladies here, alpacas! ..native to South America with more than 80% (~3,5mil) of the global herd living in Peru. In Australia, while only representing about 5% of the global herd (~170,000) the alpacas here are praised for their wonderful fibre used not only to manufacture clothing but also used in hospitals to help treat injuries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❤️ Also, they are funny, they are kinda weird, they are cute and definitely worth encountering! They loved the attention I was giving them with my camera and were more than happy to pose, actually.. they didn’t move a single bit and stood there in front of the toilet like this for good 5min!!! Gotta love them alpacas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼 Also, there’s accomodation available at the station and tours around the station and nearby areas can be organised too, to get the most out of your outback trip. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🐎 What do you think of these majestic wild horses? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🎼 Throwing caution to the wind, I'll run free too.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼 Wild horses are an established part of the Australian landscape. In fact, after I did my googles, they are the world largest wild population! Numbering at least 1 million (March 2016) they favour rocky ranges of the Northern Territory and tropical lands of Queensland the most. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤩 I was so full of excitement when we first saw the road sign up in the West MacDonnell Ranges, NT. Yet the first horse we got to see wasn't running free; on our way south from Kulgera to Coober Pedy, just near the famous dog fence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👦🏻 I remember my first time riding a horse.. I was terrified for some reasons and I know there’s a photo of me crying on the horse.. I bet the horse was more scared than I was. Now when I stepped out of the car, outside of Silverton, NSW, I felt respect and carefully approached this brumby, quickly took an image and then spent a couple of minutes just admiring their beauty. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💡As I found out, (not just) in Northern Territory they organise aerial culls where they shoot wild horses from helicopters. This is mainly to protect the waterholes and cultural sites. With the population of horses expanding lethal injections as a method of control are used too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🛣 There's also long distance transports to the coast where you can actually adopt a wildie through various programs. As they are easy to train and have proven themselves to be adaptable.. former brumbies compete in various arenas such as bush racing or show jumping.. they are part of the remote areas learning programs for aboriginal students and even assist with prisoners rehabilitation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🗣 What was your first horse riding experience like? @ Outback Australia

🚙 It was day 15 of our Outback trip and we were leaving the beautiful Parachilna and heading north for Marree. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌄 The landscape is rather stunning. At first I thought there won’t be much to see on the Oodnadatta Track, just straight unsealed road with the remains of the old Ghan railway alongside.. well boy was I wrong. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📍Just this little bit from Parachilna to Marree (around 200km) will offer you stops such as .station - fully working cattle station, ghost town of Farina (coming back to life for winter months) and this beauty - Ochre Pits outside of Lyndhurst. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👵🏾 The indigenous people of this area - Aboriginal people of Yantruwanta would use the ochre for ceremonies, ornaments, medicine and art purposes. Not to forget it was important trading commodity! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌐 People would travel down here from as far as western Queensland and the ochre from these pits would find its way all the way to Indonesia. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😮 I find it fascinating, to realize that Aboriginal people of Australia would be trading with overseas nations way before the European settlement began. Hundreds of years ago before even "discovering" this land down under.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🏜 This place is just a 2hrs drive south from Alice Springs! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🛣 Well worth getting off the Stuart Hwy; then after following an unsealed road (with some sandy patches - thus a 4WD recommended!) for about 20km, you get to see unique sandstone formations just like this one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👵🏾 Traditional country of the Upper Southern Arrernte Aboriginal people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼 PS: Make sure you have your fly head net with you if you want to step out of the car & take some shots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
