Maybe you know this feeling, too
That quiet but persistent nudge to find something, just for the sake of finding it.
The last few days, I’ve been longing about an old book from years ago; one that cracked something open in me.
I went looking it in all the old boxes, even stopped by the library, hoping to find it. But like so many pieces of ourselves we misplace through house moves, baby years, and everything in between, it was gone.
So I borrowed another book instead. Same author. Devoured it in one day. Felt that familiar ache that only his words bring. But my heart kept circling back to the old one.
And then this morning, as I was walking back after school drop off; there, inside the box next to the street library we walk pass daily, wedged between forgotten paperbacks and a some Peppa pig books; a familiar spine. I’d pulled put the very cover I’d held dearly a lifetime ago. It was just waiting, as if it had known I was coming. Of all places!
I am stunned. It didn’t feel like a coincidence. It felt more like a much needed reunion.
A whisper from something bigger. Like a small mercy for the parts of me that had been too tired to look up.
Lately, life has been feeling little topsy-turvy; patience has been stretched thin and the path ahead seems unclear; and this felt like a gentle hand on my shoulder.
That’s what the universe does sometimes. Hands us small, familiar things to remind us: You are still in there. And you are not alone.
That even when life feels heavy, and nothing seems to move forward, something unseen is still arranging the pieces. Maybe it’s telling me to slow down. To read again. To remember who I was before the noise.
Maybe you’ve felt it, too. That small, unmistakable nudge to remind you that you’re still becoming.
I’m a strong believer that the universe speaks in the language of our own hearts.
Maybe it’s not a book for you. Maybe it’s a song. A smell. A path in the woods. Something that meets your eyes and says, softly: You’re still in there.
Have you felt it lately?
