week is National Carers Week
There are 3 million of us providing disability and aged care to loved ones
Requires: love, care, dedication and excellent time management
Pays: zero but smiles and hugs
Must be able to tolerate: endless appointments and forms, hospitals, pharmacies, no pay, no support, traffic, lifting a wheelchair in and out of the boot and cold coffees
Is it worth it?

If you were wondering two of my children have disabilites. This is my son with cerebral palsy and he uses a wheelchair on long days
Do Carers need more support in all areas? Yes 💯
3 million Australians are doing it tough to provide care
In my years as a registered nurse then carer I've seen so many people burnout, breakdown, go bankrupt, become homeless
Many cry as they need to place their loved one in care as they can't cope
And tragically more than one has discussed thoughts of su***de with me as they just don't know how they'll manage another day
We need more wraparound suppports as a society
