How lucky I feel to have been invited to capture such a special day for Emily and Tom.

Around five years ago, they trusted me to photograph their first baby’s newborn days. I had only just started my photography journey then and hadn’t photographed many newborn sessions, so being welcomed into their family felt pretty special.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of photographing their second born too, and now, somehow, I’ve found myself there to capture their wedding day. 🥹

A small, intimate wedding tucked away in the beautiful Mt Field National Park, surrounded by their favourite people and the most spectacular winter scenery.

It wasn’t quite cold enough for snow, but honestly, the day couldn’t have been more beautiful.

There’s something so special about watching families grow in front of your camera and even more special when they continue to invite you along for the big moments. 🤍

A little hello, because it’s been a while 👋

I’m Jess.

I’m usually behind the camera. I make it a priority to have photos with my children regularly but taking self portraits is never my favourite thing.

I feel awkward, I overthink everything, and I’d much rather be photographing someone else.

But every time I do this, I become a little better at guiding the people who trust me with their memories.

And maybe, years from now, I’ll simply be thankful I existed in a few photographs from this chapter of life.

Those chubby cheeks, cheeky smiles and squishy little legs. My 8 year old was like this for the shortest amount of time. Once he started crawling all the rolls disappeared and now he’s like a baby giraffe 🦒 this stage is over before you know it. So worth remembering ✨

Winter family photos deserve more love 🤍

We definitely got lucky with the weather for this session, but winter sessions might be more underrated than you think. Cozy knits, golden light, and all those little moments of everyone snuggling in together… what’s not to love?
