JCB has made a big step in hydrogen technology, becoming the first to get approval from 11 European licensing authorities to use its hydrogen combustion engine in machines.
The £100 million project took over three years and a team of 150 engineers. The Netherlands was the first to grant certification, and other countries like the UK, Germany, France, and more have followed.
More certifications are expected in 2025, paving the way for wider use across Europe. This breakthrough brings zero-emission solutions to agriculture and construction and boosts hydrogen's potential in motoring.
