Exposed, Takayna.
A few weeks ago I paddled down the Pieman river to the rugged coast line of takayna / Tarkine with my large format field camera to photograph this scene for the Art for takayna Exhibition which is currently running until April 11 at Salamanca Long gallery
Unfortunately, despite the monumental beauty of takayna and the irreplaceable and ongoing significance of this landscape to traditional custodians the palawa people; this area remains unprotected and at threat.
This image was photographed using a sheet of Fujifilm Velvia 50 and my Chamonix 4x5 field camera. It depicts rock formations that are a distinct feature of the takayna coast. These stunning formations of folded, jagged, rock were formed a hundred million years ago by tectonic activity and now shaped by the constant battering winds of the Roaring Forties.
