I love capturing photos of just how tiny newborns are. It's so easy to forget just how little they are until they no longer fit in the crook of your arm, can snuggle up in your lap or sleep sweetly on your shoulder.

In home newborn sessions are the best - especially in winter when no body wants to deal with leaving the house! I'll come to you with wraps, blankets, a basket and the cutest personalised announcement peg board you've seen.

This lovely family from Townsville decided to visit Melbourne to celebrate their son's 2nd birthday.

When it comes to the inspiration photos families send me before their photo shoot, this one by far is the most popular!

These two were gorgeous and high energy. Many of the photos from our session were running around, playing and interacting and then near the end of our session, I took them to my favourite tree.

The roots are great for balancing on and exploring (perfect for curious little minds) and there is a hollow that a couple of children can stand in.

Of course, the trees and framing are beautiful (it is my favourite tree after all), but what I think resonates most is that everyone looks happy, relaxed and engaged and we'd all love a photo of our family like that.

So, if you've got young children. Bundles of energy. Curious explorers. Sit still for just a split second kind of kids - a beautiful photo like this is absolutely possible.
