"It's the most wonderful time of the year..." Glorious autumn in Melbourne. Today is spectacular! Sunny, 20 degrees, no wind, just birds and sunbeams :)
Here is one of the Musk Lorikeets visiting the flowering gum trees on our nature strip. Such beautiful, colourful birds.

Plenty of large and small bugs around as we near the end of summer. A gorgeous yellow and green dragon fly, an orange skipper, small blue butterfly and a dainty swallowtail butterfly. All in and around my garden. What's in your garden?

Happy New Year! Well I'm glad to start a new year and am looking forward to what comes next. We are heading to a new nature spot tomorrow, at Plenty Gorge so I'm hoping I can share some interesting images with you. In the meantime, as the festive season was pretty quiet I spent a lot of time in the garden with the local critters. Take a look at my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/pamelasuttonlegaud/ for more photos and videos. I hope you had a lovely festive season and I look forward to sharing more nature stories with you in 2026.

Over the past 7 years, I've planted a (mostly) native garden to attract bird and bug life. The garden has absolutely benefited from this year's cooler, wetter spring and everything is flowering. The butterflies are starting to return and today we had a little New Holland Honeyeater feeding on grevillea who is usually scared off by the bigger honeyeaters. What's in your garden?

Also at the there are still a few little waders around. Today, there was a pair of Red Capped Plovers trying to avoid the hairy beasts (dogs!) racing around the water's edge
