Harlequin Ducks are only in Yellowstone for a few weeks and then they’re off to Alaska and Canada. The male Harlequins are so colorful and I’m glad I got to see these guys before they moved on.

Here are a few elk photos from our most recent trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. We were lucky enough to see some babies, which is why we made the journey. We saw some beautiful bull elk with their velvet also. There are going to be some monster sized elk this fall.

This is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken in 2026, and I hope you enjoy it also. I was in the right place at the right time earlier this year when the “Worm Super Moon” was at its peak. It was close to sunrise and I only had a couple hours left in Yellowstone before I had to fly back to Colorado. I drove by and saw this elk on the ridge with the moon and quickly grabbed my camera and parked. Ran up the hill and got as much as I could. I’m not sure I can recreate this, but I will be chasing another like this for a while, I’m sure.

I’ve learned to bring my camera everywhere with me, especially in Yellowstone. Even though I see crazy amounts of wildlife when I don’t have my camera for some reason.
