Whatever the purpose, your headshot should work for you.

That's why I don't believe there's one perfect headshot for everyone.

A corporate executive may need something different from a realtor.

An attorney may need a different look from a creative entrepreneur.

The best image depends on where you're showing up and who you're trying to connect with.

So before your next headshot session, think beyond:

“Do I like this picture?”

Ask:

“Does this photograph communicate what I want people to know about me?”

It's the way your About page introduces you.

And yes—it's also the person behind the business.

That's why branding photography can be so valuable.

You aren't simply updating your headshot.

The businesses I photograph are all different, and that's one of the things I love about working with entrepreneurs and professionals.

Your brand doesn't have to look like everyone else's.

Your photographs shouldn't either.

The goal isn't to create an image that looks “professional” in the most generic sense.

It's to create images that feel professional and recognizable as you.

Because people don't connect with a logo alone.

Some of my favorite images aren't the ones we planned.

They're the little moments in between.

A laugh.

A quick conversation.

Someone relaxing their shoulders.

That moment when a client stops thinking about the camera.

Those are often the images that end up feeling the most like them.

Of course, we create polished professional portraits during a session.

But I never want the experience to feel like we're simply checking off a list of poses.

There's room for personality, movement, and those little unscripted moments too.

Because sometimes the photograph that tells the best story is the one nobody was expecting.

And honestly?

Growing a business often means building a team of people who help make everything work behind the scenes.

That was exactly what I loved about photographing Evergreen Studio, a women-led virtual assistance agency supporting established small business owners.

Their branding session wasn't just about updated headshots.

It was about showing the people behind the work—and creating images that feel professional, approachable, and true to the brand.
