I never did maternity photos.
Not with my first. Not with my second. Not with my third. Not even with my fourth.
There was always a reason.
I didn’t feel beautiful. I was exhausted. I felt bigger than I wanted to. There were other things to spend money on. I told myself I didn’t need them.
And honestly? I believed I’d remember it all anyway.
But the truth is, pregnancy is one of those seasons that feels endless while you’re living it and somehow disappears in the blink of an eye.
Now when I look back, I have thousands of photos of my kids. First smiles, first birthdays, first days of school. But I have almost nothing that shows the beginning. Nothing that shows the woman who carried them before she knew who they’d become.
As a photographer, I hear moms say all the time, “I want maternity photos, but I don’t like how I look right now.”
I get it. I really do.
But years from now, I don’t think you’ll care about the extra weight, the swollen feet, or whether your dress fit perfectly. I think you’ll care that you captured a chapter you’ll never get back.
So if you’re waiting until you feel more confident, more comfortable, or more photogenic, consider this your reminder:
You don’t have to love every part of your pregnancy to honor it.
Take the photos. One day, they may become the pictures you wish you had. 🤍📸✨
