Just days before, Sean and Irene had a civil wedding — practical and intentional. With his continued schooling, timing didn’t work out with a proper proposal, but he had always meant to ask the question.

So he planned the Catalina trip, booked a backcountry jeep tour with, and asked us to bring white roses along with the cameras.

Irene thought they were just going on a tour during their honeymoon at Catalina Island. ❤️

We saw dozens of bisons from ten feet away. A miniature donkey named Augie. Majestic harbor view from an overlook, where we set out a countryside picnic. And then, Sean went down on one knee.

“I know we’re already married. But I wanted to give you the proposal of your dreams.”
“Oh my God, I’m gonna marry you for 100 times.”
Her answer said it all. Congratulations Sean and Irene. 🤍

The day before, Peterson had made Kassandra in believing while he was not proposing on this trip, he had arranged a nice anniversary photoshoot. She trusted him going in and was caught off guard when he suddenly went down on one knee.

He’d been carrying the ring all week. Pretending nothing was about to change.
Jason and Jeanne met during college, where they both belonged to an Asian Pacific club, four years ago.

When it came to choosing the right place for the question, he chose Terranea Resort’s Beach Cove - as she had always wanted to visit it with him. Little did she know he had been orchestrating a proposal plan all along, collaborating with the trusted team at Terranea, us for photo and video, and both of their families and friends.

He had one goal in mind, to genuinely surprise Jeanne.
She was thinking they are going to an All-White party.
Everyone was hiding in the bushes.

“Oh my God my face is ruined!”* she said, still crying. *“I’m an ugly crier. But it’s a success.”

Family of 3 came back to the bluffs with their son Oliver, who is now 4, full of energy and curiosity. Another baby on the way. The same warmth between them that I've witness over the years knowing the them.

There's something I find heartwarming about being a documentary photographer - it's witnessing a family expand, their trust for me to document not just a moment, but the in between phases and milestones of a family. This was one of those sessions.

Rachel and Joseph's wedding at the JW Marriott Anaheim started quietly, just the two of them in their suite, reading their personal vows to each other before the ceremony began.

Then came the outdoor garden ceremony, the Arbor Ballroom, two families celebrating together, and a photobooth that brought out a side of the guests nobody had seen all day.

Fifty years, and they still move through the ballroom like they're the only two people in it.

Over the weekend, Jamie & John gathered their closest friends and family at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach to celebrate half a century together. There's something special and different about documenting a love that has already been through almost everything, the kind that doesn't need to perform, it just is.

It was an honor to be present and witness it all behind our lens. These are the evenings that remind me why I do this work.
