A couple of weeks ago I was told the terrible news that Pancho (Gonz Pancho) had passed.
After being without a greyhound for years, our friends Pat and Ron wanted to foster again. They ended up fostering Pancho from the June 2025 doghaul to FastFriends Greyhound Adoption. In a short period of time it became obvious that Pat and Ron would adopt Pancho.
I met Pancho for the first time in July 2025 at the Sunday morning greyhound walk at Charles H. Wilson Park. What a big striking red fawn boy he was.
One highlight for me that happened a couple of months after I met Pancho was when one of Pancho's daughters, Gonz Winona, was brought to the Sunday morning walk by her foster parents. I took a lot of pictures of Pancho and Winona together and managed to get a video of them barking together.
When Winona's dam Gonz Magenta arrived in a later doghaul, we hoped to get her, Pancho, and Winona together for a family photo but that did not come to pass. Now that would've been fun.
Whenever Pancho came to the Sunday walk, I always tried to snap a few frames of him and I'd try to share the decent images with Pat and Ron, and Marcos and Carmen. There's no such thing as having too many pictures of your dog.
At nine years of age when Pancho arrived, Pat and Ron knew that there was no telling how many more years Pancho would be around. But all too soon, he was gone: his stay lasted just nine months.
But we have his pictures and video to remember him, and that makes me smile.
