What a day it was.
From a stunning sunrise to thousands of EPIC finishes.

Congratulations to everyone who ran at the 2026 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10k.

Shout out to all the volunteers, staff, first responders and race crew for a great race.

I had a wonderful Saturday morning with some great friends and awesome people at the Miles 4 Matthew race.

It was a great turnout for a wonderful organization and I was thrilled to be apart of it.

Reignited.

The Cafe Texan Huntsville Half & 10k is back and it was simply awesome.

From the perfect weather to a great course.
The race went smoothly, the crew & volunteers were amazing.

Photo Dump, The last few days. October 13-15
From Towne Lake, White Oak Bayou, Longwood, Woodtrace and Fairfield.

6-7 Ospreys, 5 different Bald Eagles, a couple of kestrels, a beautiful scissor-tailed flycatcher pair. Some Egyptian geese, Ibis, night herons, eastern Phoebe , woodpecker and an egret eating a small turtle.

October 1 in Townelake.
First I ran into an osprey pair at GoForth Park then I came across a sub-adult bald eagle in Townelake who had found its self a meal. I think this is the same sub-adult from last year with the one adult and juvenile that the adult ran off with the meal. All one big family.

When it finished up and flew off it went to one of the normal tree spots and was yelled at by an adult bald eagle. It ended up flying off and landing near the water for a bit.

2 adults ended up in the tree and stayed a bit before taking off together for a little fun flying.

Finishing up the day with a couple of hummingbirds and a dragonfly in MBY.

October 5 -6 at my neighborhood ponds.

The osprey pair was back on the 5th but the female left for a bit while the male stayed for a couple of hours looking around and being shadowed for over an hour by a young adult Bald Eagle.

They passed each other several times, rode the thermals together and the eagle seemed to just be patiently waiting for the osprey to grab a fish. The osprey never attempted an actual dive until the female came back and the eagle seemed to have left.

He finally snagged a small fish and left, the female stayed and went fishing for herself.

That day I counted around 500 cormorants in the pond.

October 6 was a bit different.

When I showed uo I saw the osprey pair flying around but they didn't stick around.

The pond had now been taken over by over 1500 cormorants.

The male osprey came back by once for a glance and a different adult bald eagle flew by pretty high up.

Hopefully the cormorants don't empty the ponds...
