Posting a proposal session without the proposal photos for the first time,m. Why, you ask? Well, because I goofed and shot all of those in portrait orientation, which I don’t mind, but for socials, we much prefer landscape orientation. We love the idea of showing off the scenery surrounding a couple. Especially when they choose a National Park as their location. Even more so when they travel here from out of state. They didn’t come here to have most of the visual appeal taken away from them in their photos. So, no verticals allowed, at least not now.

Joel called a few months back and was very precise with his ideas and what he wanted to give to Cynthia for a proposal moment. He knew Mount Rainier National Park was to be the backdrop, and that he wanted to put a little extra ‘fluff’ into the moment with flowers, candles (don’t worry, not real ones), and a nice rug beneath them. Joel got exactly what he wished for Cynthia, and all turned out wonderful. They had their moment at the Cougar Rock Amphitheater, which doesn’t have a view of Mount Tahoma, but it didn’t matter, because the presence of the mountain was overshadowed by their moment. Also, clouds, lots and lots of clouds, that just kept on getting in the way. Again, didn’t matter. Joel & Cynthia were delighted to be in the park and enjoying ALL it had to offer.

Mount Rainier National Park really does have it all. So, you should never miss an opportunity to go see more than the mountain. Take it all in.

Photographing and officiating an elopement is challenging, but also extremely rewarding. Talk about a way to guarantee your couple never forgets you (most of our couples don’t). Artist Point at Mount Baker is an extremely gorgeous location, and perfect for an elopement. Luisa & Davin made the right choice when pulling this all together. Once we arrived, and they all got out of the cars, we marveled over how stunning the views were, and how perfect the weather was for mid-October. Luisa & Davin looked amazing, especially surrounded by those breathtaking vistas. The time spent with them, and their family, was special, and fun. I’d do it all over again, in a heartbeat.

Speaking of the vistas…you have to show them off, right? I love photographing big wide open cinematic scenes. If you pick a location like this, you can guarantee that I’m going to make sure you remember why you planned your elopement there in the first place.

After a quick proposal session at Dune Peninsula back in June, we arrive to today, the engagement session. We split the time together between the waterfront at Owen Beach, followed by a little forest trail walk in Point Defiance Park. I’m really happy to have suggested this, since Evan said his original plan was to propose to Kayli in the forest. It all comes full circle, just like the ring. This story of their love keeps going. Just found out they’ll be getting married in New York, which is where we are originally from. So, coming full circle again. Really hoping they consider taking me on that adventure as well. Wouldn’t mind an Upstate NY wedding for this wonderful couple.

Why not keep things simple and short? Rachel & Eric had a wedding that they wanted, small and intimate, with their closest family and friends. Beautiful small venue with a chapel, right on the water. The focus being, getting married and starting on this adventure together.

I was with them for just 4.5 hours, and accomplished everything I needed to, to deliver them a beautiful gallery with all the bells and whistles that they desired from a photographer.

In those 4.5 hours, I covered everything I would normally cover, it was just stripped down and held within those 4.5 hours. I got all the candid and emotional moments, along with all of the creative and artistically posed photos around the property.

Skylar & Caleb weren’t afraid to get dirty, at all. They rolled in the dirt, got brambles stuck in the dress, climbed on some boulders, and braved the tall grass. At one point, Caleb had a large spider on him, and he didn’t care at all. Come at us with this type of adventurous side, and the results that follow will have a little extra pop to them. The point is, don’t be afraid to take risks and get a little dirty. Don’t hesitate to climb in a bush, take the muddy path, or get in the water. If you don’t do it, you may have some regrets, and that’s no fun at all.

While we didn’t share family photos, we did witness how much they both loved all of their family and friends. They expressed how much they admired their parents long relationships, and how they are modeling their own marriage after what they witnessed from their parents. We love to see this type of family dynamic at weddings, as we feel
this way about the love we share and show our children.

Ready to take your own risks. Let us go on that journey with you, and have some fun rolling in the mud.

Starting this post off with a photo from the very end. This is exactly how I will remember the bright shining faces of Kendall & Nicholas and all of their closest family and friends. They all were bright and colorful and filled with love, just like the very first photo. They had their wedding day celebration, including their ceremony and reception at the incredible Taylor Mountain Ranch. Here in Washington, this has quickly become one of our favorite venues, and we really value the relationship that we have with them. We are looking forward to many many years of photographing weddings here for amazing couples that choose this venue for their big day. Kendall & Nicholas clearly made the right choice when they chose Taylor Mountain Ranch and October, which could be pretty unpredictable when it comes to weather, but the weather held out for them in the most glorious way. The crisp Autumn air lent itself well to the gorgeous fall rustic aesthetic of the barn and the surrounding property.

We love a good backyard wedding. You know what we love even more? A backyard wedding with the sweetest family you could possible ask for. Upon arrival, it was like they had known me for ages. They made me feel right at home, and were extremely hospitable. They even went as far as to seat me with the 32 guests that attended. It made me feel appreciated and special, and I just love that feeling. Celín & Allen are a truly perfect fit for one another. I mean, you could feel it radiating off of them when they finally got to spend time together on their big day.

Oh, and when I first pulled up in the car, Allen was out by the street, and welcomed me warmly and guided me where to park. When I finally got out of the car, he shook my hand and we joked about the unexpected warm weather and how he could do without his jacket. I admitted being warm and told him that’s why I’m in short sleeves, and apologized to him jokingly. This really helped set the mood for the day, and everything after this point went very smooth. A similar interaction happened when I met Celín for the first time as well. She was just finishing up with hair & make-up and was in her kitchen. I jokingly said “where can I find Celín?” To the only person wearing all white? Haha. I knew who she was, but was trying to be funny. She replied “I’m Celín”, and I said “well, duh, what was I thinking, I mean look at you, of course you’re the bride, dressed all in white”. We all had a little chuckle together, and the day moved on.

What more could you ask for? Just an easy day, with a wonderful couple and their closest family and friends, who brought the warmth of the sun with their smiles, and love.

Siddhant approached with an idea for a proposal to Vini at Olympic National Park, and that’s not where we ended up. Unfortunately, those plans fell through due to some travel challenges and inclement weather. Throughout the process, we stayed in constant contact, and came up with many alternative plans. Finally, we landed on Mount Rainier National Park, near Chinook Pass, in the Tipsoo Lake area, and a small hike along Naches Peak Loop. It was important for Siddhant not to repeat locations from previous travels, and Mount Rainier would serve as the perfect backdrop for their love story.

This particular arrangement was unique, since most couples that I photograph are coming from out of state. In this case, only one of them traveled here a distance. Siddhant lives in California, while Vini lives in the Seattle area.

It was important to Siddhant for the proposal to be intimate and private, with stunning views, and a nice story to tell. Well, we got all of that and then some. Add the gorgeous light, their glowing smiles, and super fun personalities, and you get a successful proposal session.

So happy with the results of the session, despite some obstacles along the way with travel arrangements and weather complications. However, our extreme flexibility, always helps couples feel at ease when bringing these plans together and finalizing this level of commitment.

I mean, c’mon, can this couple be any more stunning? Seriously though…they are just gorgeous in their wedding attire. Betiel & Anthony absolutely killed it with their choices. Everything was just a perfect representation of Autumn. Anthony in his green suit, wow. Betiel looking ravishing in her amazing dress. The flowers!! The flowers!! Exquisitely designed by the super talented team over at farmhouse_box_bloom. Also, Liljebeck was the perfect backdrop for this fall themed wedding. They really just had it all come together so nicely, and we just love the results.
