Jennifer Brake is a portrait photographer who knows that a meaningful photograph is the result of a meaningful experience. She believes in showing the value of the person in front of the camera, and quality over quantity.

Growing up in a small town in Kansas taught her to appreciate family, connection, and community. She moved to South Bend thinking she would be here for only four years, but has now lived here for almost 26 years with her husband and three teenagers.

A physician by training, she pursued a career as a photographer when she realized the art that is the human being not only physically but in the human experience.

When Liz walked through the door, I thought she'd already done her hair. But no. That's just how it fell that morning. Perfect waves that fit her personality so well. Add a little makeup for polish and she was headshot-ready.

We all have different versions of ourselves, that is, we show different aspects of our personalities and lives to different people at different times.
What I loved about this session was that, while I was already enamored by Anna’s quirky side, I also loved her desire to play and have fun with the photo shoot. And then I was treated to her musical side, which also happens to be a side that brings her close to her dad.
There may be sides to you that you don’t feel like preserving in photos. The thing is, you get to choose. Just don’t hide the parts of you that you really want to shine.
Now is the time to book your own photo session—and be whatever version of yourself you want to be.
