A Back-to-School Tip From Me

Before that first day sneaks up on you, take a few minutes to photograph your kids exactly as they are right now.

Not just the traditional "first day of school" picture with the cute sign (although I absolutely love those too!).

Take a few quick photos of the little things you'll forget:

The missing tooth.

The backpack that's almost as big as they are.

Their favorite shoes.

The way they look when they're excited about their new teacher.

The messy bedroom.

The silly smile.

The little details that make this version of them uniquely theirs.

You don't need a fancy camera, either. Your phone is perfect. Get down on their level, look for good natural light, and don't worry about making everything perfect.

Those imperfect little moments are often the ones you'll treasure most.

And, of course, if you want to update those family portraits before the school year gets completely crazy... you know where to find me. 😉

Thirteen is a milestone worth celebrating.
No longer a little kid...
Not quite grown up...
Just beginning to discover who she is.
These are the moments that deserve to be remembered.
It was such a joy capturing her confidence, kindness, and beautiful personality during this beach session. I hope these images are something she'll look back on years from now and smile.

If you've spent any time with me, you probably know I have a favorite flower...

The Purple Coneflower.
There's just something about them.
They aren't the flashiest flower in the garden.
They don't need to be.

They stand tall, weather every season, and come back year after year, bringing beauty wherever they grow.

In a lot of ways, they remind me of families.
Strong.
Resilient.
Always growing.
Always changing.

Photography is a lot like a garden. Every season looks a little different, and every season is worth remembering.

That's one of the reasons I love what I do so much. I get to preserve the beauty of each chapter before the next one begins.
