**Read to the end!!

For those of you who have already purchased a book, I want to say thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I am grateful for you. 🙏❤️

I believe we all have a God-given responsibility to do something meaningful with our lives—to leave the world a little better than we found it and to be part of something greater than ourselves.

And that is exactly why I am so excited to announce what I’ve been planning! I am starting the Hope Grows Mission.

Each copy of my book, Hope Grows in Muddy Places, is like a seed of hope.

Just as a cattail releases thousands of seeds into the wind, every book that is gifted to someone who is hurting has the potential to plant hope in a heart that desperately needs it. A reminder that they are not alone. A reminder that God is still present in the mud.

My goal is simple: to plant as many seeds of hope as possible.

But I can’t do it alone.

I’m inviting you to join me.

If you gift a copy of this book to someone during the coming year, send me a message and tell me about it. Tell me who received it, why you chose them, or how the book impacted them.

Throughout the coming weeks, months, year, I’ll be sharing these stories (with permission) so together we can watch hope spread from one person to another.

One book.
One seed.
One story at a time.

Let’s see how much hope we can grow. Please share this post so we can spread the word!

To be able to officially say, "I am an author," feels incredibly humbling.

It's a dream I've carried for a long time, but more than anything, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the hope this book may bring to others.

As I reflect on my own journey through bone marrow cancer, I clearly remember how powerful it was to hear stories from people who had walked through hardship and still found hope. Sometimes a single story is all it takes to remind someone they can keep going.

That's exactly why I wrote Hope Grows in Muddy Places: Lessons from the Cattail.

This book was created for those moments in life when someone you love is hurting and words fall short.

It's the gift you give when you don't know what to say.

A reminder that they are not alone. A reminder that God is present in the mud. A reminder that hope still grows.

Today, I'm celebrating the launch of my very first book, but even more importantly, I'm celebrating that God gave me the opportunity and the words to write it.

To me, this is about much more than selling books.

It's about sharing hope. It's about serving others. It's about leaving the world a little better than we found it.

And this is only the beginning.

Later this week, I'll be sharing something called The Hope Grows Mission—a mission that is deeply connected to the reason this book exists in the first place.

Go ahead and share this post to offer someone hope!

Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, and prayed for me along the way. I am forever grateful.

❤️ D’Ann

I’ve felt this continuous nudge lately to start taking the time write again. To slow down. To fulfill my life’s purpose.

Sometimes I feel like I was born into the wrong era.

Like my soul remembers something my life no longer reflects.

A time when one small family farm could hold everything—
hard work, purpose, meaning… all woven into the same day.

Dirt under your nails wasn’t something to clean off right away.
It was proof.
Proof that you showed up.
That what you did mattered.

Mornings started early. Nights stretched long.
Your body felt it.
But so did your spirit.

Because the exhaustion came with something real—
something you could see at the end of the day and say, that was worth it.

I can still picture it.

A table full of food… not fancy, just full.
Everyone sitting close, not distracted, not rushing off somewhere else.

Neighbors stopping by unannounced—
and no one wondering why.
They were just welcomed in… like they always belonged there.

People showed up for each other back then.
Not when it was convenient—
but when it mattered.

And God…
He wasn’t tucked away or tiptoed around.
He was spoken openly.
Lived through quietly.
Centered in it all.

I miss that.

I miss something I didn’t even fully get to keep.

Because now I drive past old barns standing empty…
weathered wood, doors barely hanging on…
and I don’t just see what’s there—

I see what used to be.

Cows out in the field.
A dad bent over fixing a tractor.
A mom hanging clothes on the line, the fabric catching the breeze.
Kids running barefoot through the yard without a care in the world.

Cats climbing trees.
Calves wandering too far.
An old dog stretched out on the porch like he’s lived a hundred lifetimes.

Dust floating through the air like time itself slowed down just enough to notice it.

And I catch myself wondering…

What happened?

How did life become so complicated so fast?

How did we go from a life that was hard—but made sense…
to one that’s easier on the surface, yet feels so much heavier to carry?

Because somewhere along the way, we lost something.

We traded purpose for convenience.
Connection for speed.
Presence for distraction.

And my heart…

It still longs for it.

Not just to go back—
but to bring it forward.

To live slower.
To build something that actually means something.
To sit longer, talk deeper, love people better.

To create a life where purpose isn’t something you chase—
it’s something you live.

Oh how I wish I could go back…

But maybe the truth is—

we’re not meant to go back.

We’re meant to remember…
and rebuild it, right where we are.

If you feel any of this, go ahead and SHARE ❤️

It’s easy to feel blessed when life feels good. But the real shift happens when you choose gratitude in the middle of the hard, the messy, the uncertain. That’s where your perspective changes. That’s where your strength is built. Don’t wait for perfect to be thankful—train your heart to see it now.

Can I ask you a question? Have you ever felt this—moments in your life when someone you love is really hurting, but words to comfort just didn’t come out right or feel like enough?

I’m raising my hand! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Walking through cancer, I met so many incredible people—patients and families who were fighting battles most people will never fully understand.

I remember so badly wanting to show up for them in their hurt… but not knowing how.

A card felt too small.
A gift felt awkward.
And “I’m sorry” never felt like enough.

I wanted something more—something that could actually bring comfort. Something they could hold onto. Something they could return to on the hard days.

Something that felt like a hug.

I couldn’t find it.

So I wrote it.

Hope Grows in Muddy Places: Lessons from the Cattail was created for the moments when people are hurting—and for the ones who love them and don’t know what to say.

If you’ve ever walked through a hard season, or walked beside someone who has… this book is for you.

The final edit is currently underway!

More to come soon❤️
