📍 Conway, Washington

Some sessions just feel like summer.

Running around barefoot under the apple trees, laying in the grass, dancing, laughing until you can’t take the photos seriously anymore — and of course, the dog making sure he was included in absolutely everything.

No perfect poses. No trying to make everything look polished. Just a mom and her daughter having fun together, soaking up a summer evening, and letting me capture it as it happened.

Because years from now, I don’t think it’ll be the perfectly posed photos that mean the most. It’ll be the way you laughed together, the way you looked at each other, and all the little pieces of this season of life you didn’t realize you’d miss yet.

A year ago yesterday, we were running around the Washington coast documenting this little season of life before everything changed. 🌊

Bare feet in the sand, waves crashing around us, wind doing whatever it wanted + the kind of PNW coastline that makes even the simplest moments feel cinematic.

There’s something I love so much about maternity sessions that feel less like a photoshoot and more like documenting what life actually felt like right before you met your baby. The way you held your belly without thinking about it. The way your person looked at you. The quiet moments mixed in with laughing, exploring + trying not to get taken out by a rogue wave.

These are the photos that only become more meaningful with time.

One year later and I still love this session just as much.

📍 Raleigh, North Carolina

Fall wedding inspiration that feels like stepping into another world.

Warm autumn florals, rich textures, pomegranates scattered across the tables, delicate details, candlelight and a glass conservatory glowing as the sun disappears.

From the tablescape to the cake and every little detail in between, there’s something so romantic about a wedding design that feels like one beautifully connected story.

Moody, old-world, intimate and just a little unexpected — exactly the kind of fall wedding inspiration I love photographing, whether I’m documenting a wedding here in Washington, across the country in North Carolina, or somewhere completely new.

📍 Pacific Northwest

RUNAWAY.

No aisle. No altar. No destination.

Just a suitcase, an open road, and absolutely no intention of turning around.

A little bridal.
A little fashion.
A little f*ck the plan.

Runaway bride, but make it editorial.

📍 Seattle, Washington

Family photos don’t have to be perfectly posed. They don’t have to be everyone standing in the right spot, looking at the camera, smiling at the exact same time and hoping the kids cooperate long enough to get the photo.

Sometimes the best family photos happen when you stop worrying about getting everything perfect and just let the littles be little.

Let them run through the tall grass. Let them wander off and explore. Let them pick dandelions, climb trees, twirl their dresses, chase each other around, and probably get a little dirty along the way. Let them be in a place where they feel comfortable enough to forget there’s even a camera following them around.

Because that’s when you start getting the moments that actually feel like your family.

The way they reach for your hand without being asked. The way your partner looks at you while everyone else is running in five different directions. The belly laughs, the chaos, the little personalities coming out, and all of those tiny moments happening in between the photos you thought you were there to take.

Of course we’ll still get the classic photo of everyone together looking at the camera. I know those photos matter too. But I never want that to be what your entire gallery feels like.

I want your photos to remind you what this season of your life actually felt like.

Because one day they won’t be this little. They won’t always want to run through a field holding your hand or ask you to watch them climb the same tree for the fifth time. And all of those ordinary little things that feel so normal right now are eventually going to become the things you wish you could go back and experience just one more time.

That’s where the storytelling happens for me.

Not in trying to make your family look perfect, but in giving you the space to simply be together and documenting whatever unfolds.

A little messy. A little chaotic. Completely yours.

That’s the kind of family photos I want you to have.

📍 Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

Most people think the session ends when the sun goes down.

I always hope my couples are willing to stay.

Because that’s when everything changes.

The beach gets quieter. The sky fades into shades of orange and blue. Before you know it, you’re running through the waves, getting completely soaked, and laughing every time the ocean has other plans.

None of it was planned.

And those are almost always the moments my couples remember most.

The best photos aren’t about perfect poses. They’re about being present, staying a little longer, and letting the evening unfold however it’s meant to.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth staying after sunset, my answer will always be yes.

📍 Index, Washington

The rain came and went all day.

One minute we were watching the clouds roll in, and the next, the sun was breaking through the trees like nothing had happened.

Honestly… it couldn’t have fit this day any better.

The morning started in a cozy A-frame cabin tucked away in the woods. Coffee brewing, music playing in the background, quiet moments before everything began.

Later, they shared one of the sweetest meals together inside a little greenhouse while the rain tapped softly against the glass. There wasn’t a packed timeline to keep up with or a room full of people waiting on them. Just the two of them, slowing down and soaking in every part of the day.

When the rain finally let up, we wandered down to the river where they read their vows with nothing but the sound of the water and the trees around them.

As the sun disappeared, they ended the night tucked beneath a canopy of twinkle lights, wrapped in blankets, laughing together, and holding onto those last few quiet moments before heading back to the cabin.

If this day reminded me of anything, it’s that weddings aren’t remembered because everything went perfectly.

They’re remembered because of how they felt.

If you’re dreaming of an intimate wedding day that gives you room to breathe, be present, and celebrate in a way that feels true to you, don’t be afraid to throw out the rulebook.

Sometimes the most unforgettable days are the ones that were never trying to be perfect in the first place.

📍 Big Island, Hawaiʻi
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was born and raised in Washington, but being Hawaiian has always meant there’s a part of me that feels connected to these islands in a way that’s hard to explain.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every time I come back, life seems to slow down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The ocean has a way of making everything else feel a little quieter. The air feels different. The days feel longer. I find myself putting my camera down more often just to take it all in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s one of the few places where I don’t feel like I have to rush.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Maybe that’s why photographing here means so much to me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Getting to document couples, families, and elopements in a place that’s part of my own story is something I’ll never take for granted. It’s more than a destination to me—it’s a place that continues to shape the way I see the world and the way I tell other people’s stories.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope this is only the beginning of coming back here more often, meeting incredible people, and documenting love in a place that will always hold a special piece of my heart. 🌺

📍 Christianson’s Nursery · Mount Vernon, WA
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You step through the greenhouse doors, breathe in the smell of fresh flowers, and start wandering with no real destination in mind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You stop to admire the blooms, peek inside the little white schoolhouse, laugh at something completely random, and before long, you’ve forgotten there’s even a camera following you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s always my favorite part.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best engagement sessions aren’t about perfect poses or checking off a Pinterest shot list. They’re about slowing down long enough to simply enjoy being together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One piece of advice I always give my couples is this: don’t choose your engagement session location just because it’s beautiful. Choose somewhere that has meaning to you, or a place that feels like the two of you. Somewhere you’d spend an afternoon together even if there wasn’t a camera around.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you feel comfortable, everything changes. The laughter comes naturally. The quiet moments don’t have to be forced. The photos become less about posing and more about remembering what this season of your life actually felt like.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s the kind of experience I want every couple to walk away with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re dreaming about your own engagement session, let’s find a place that feels like your story—not someone else’s.
