Earlier this week the United States Federal Aviation Administration officially certified the Boeing 737-10 MAX type clearing the way for the type to enter service soon with WestJet. This frame will eventually enter service with United Airlines once it is retrofitted back for commercial service.

As Lufthansa gets set to withdraw the Airbus A340-600, overall, it was not an aircraft I got to photograph often. Figured I'd share some photos I took of Virgin Atlantic landing at LAX back in the day. I have only spotted at this location a few times but got lucky here.

A Cathay Dragon Airbus A333 seen here landing in Hong Kong, the Cathay Dragon identity was retired in October of 2020 as they once again just became part of the Cathay Pacific branding.

The Alaska Airlines special “Spirit of the Islands” unveiled in 2013, was a frequent flyer favorite. Alaska was going to do a replacement scheme but unfortunately due to the Maui fires it pushed it off and then just a few months later the Hawaiian Merger was announced. Would love to see what the new scheme would have been. Was such a great scheme!

N302AS, the very first Boeing 737-900 ever made and flew the bulk of the flight test campaign. Was eventually delivered to Alaska Airlines who was the launch customer for this type and retired back in 2025. This aircraft never received winglets and flew its entire career like this along with 303 and 305. I photographed 302 a "few" times in Anchorage including once on a snowy sunny morning at first light.

15 years ago today, Boeing officially delivered the very first 787-8 Dreamliner to All Nippon Airways on a rainy fall morning in Everett WA.

Since then over 1300 Dreamliners have been delivered to customers all across the globe with 761 of them being for the 787-9!

The aircraft would end up flying home to Japan the next day, since then JA801A has since been repainted into the standard ANA scheme.
