My advice to all couples getting married. Be sure to allow yourself some breathing room on your wedding day. Not every second needs to be planned, curated, or directed. Leave space for the unexpected—
LONG CAPTION BUT CUTE STORY
For sunset portraits, I knew I wanted to utilize their suite at . It’s quiet and has a stellar view of the Smith Tower. For me, sunset portraits are often a fairly unguided part of the day, I let the energy of my couples guide the imagery. More than anything, I want this to be a moment for the couple to reconnect (wedding days are V stimulating!), take some deep breaths and as I say “be where your feet are”. For Kevin and Zach, their “sunset portrait” time took a beautiful turn, none of us saw coming. After they took in the view, and toasted their union, Kevin sat down at the baby grand piano in their room, and playfully tinkered on the keys. Zach sat down and joined him, they laughed. Then Kevin stood up and Zach continued to play. Zach proceeded to play a beautiful song (I wish I remembered which one) and Kevin stood next to him, in awe of his husband, bringing him to tears. Tim and I looked at each other, and quietly stepped back to thoughtfully capture this moment without disruption. It was a special moment to witness, one we still talk about often. ✨
