As a mom, you're usually the one taking the pictures. You're documenting the birthday parties, the beach trips, the vacations, and all those everyday moments you never want to forget. And more often than not, you're not in the pictures yourself. And when you do hand your phone to your partner? Well...let's just say the results don't always make it into the favorites folder. 😂

So, while family portraits are about the whole family, I always make time for photographs of you with your children, too. Years from now, your kids won't be looking at these photographs the way you do. They won't notice the flaws or imperfections that you see. They'll simply be grateful that you were in the pictures.

This image from a recent session was an instant favorite, not only for me, but for mom and grandma, too. 🤍

I'm so excited to share more from this beautiful summer session, and I can't wait to see the artwork this family chose once it arrives. Knowing these moments will live on the walls of their home and be enjoyed every day by the people who love them most makes them even more meaningful.

As a certified heat hater, I'm not usually someone who looks forward to July 🥵...but this year, I can't wait because that's when the Summer Childhood Collective sessions start!

What I love about the Collective is that each experience was created with a purpose. Not just to take beautiful portraits, but to preserve something meaningful about childhood. The season they're in. The things they love. The stories they're growing up with. The places that will always feel like home.

As a photographer, I get to meet so many wonderful families, and one thing I've learned is that childhood changes fast. The favorite stuffed animal gets replaced. The little traditions evolve. The details that feel ordinary today become the things we wish we could remember years from now.

That's what the Summer Childhood Collective is really about.

Booking is now open for all four experiences. If you haven't seen the details yet, leave a comment below and I'll send them your way. 🤍

The time between a maternity session and a newborn session is usually only a month or two, but it's incredible how much can change in that short time.

When I photograph an expecting mama, we're talking about baby names, nursery plans, and how she's feeling as she counts down the days until she finally gets to meet her little one.

Then, a short time later, she's back in the studio with the baby we spent the whole maternity session talking about.

I think that's what makes the experience so special. I get to meet families during a season of anticipation and excitement, then see them again after their lives have changed in the biggest way possible.

Somewhere in between those two sessions, something else happens, too. We've spent time together. We've gotten to know each other. By the time I see them again for newborn portraits, there's already a level of comfort and familiarity that wasn't there the first time we met.

One day we're talking about baby names and nursery plans, and the next I'm getting to meet the little person we've been talking about all along. That's a pretty special thing to be part of. 🤍

Sometimes the newborn stage doesn't go quite the way you imagined.

Maybe you knew you wanted newborn portraits, but life with a new baby felt overwhelming and scheduling them never happened. Maybe you weren't sure whether professional portraits were important to you until you were in the middle of those first weeks and realized how quickly everything was changing. Maybe pregnancy, delivery, or postpartum recovery was more difficult than you expected, and portraits simply weren't a priority.

Whatever the reason, sometimes moms find themselves looking at their baby a month or two later and wondering if they've missed their chance.

The answer is no.

While traditional newborn portraits are typically photographed during the first few weeks of life, it's never too late to document this season in a meaningful way.

The portraits may look a little different than they would have at ten days old, but they can still capture the things you'll want to remember years from now. The way your baby fits perfectly in your arms. The expressions they're starting to make. The connection you're building together. The love that fills these early days of parenthood.

Because these portraits were never really about creating "newborn pictures." They're about preserving a season of life that passes far too quickly. And that story is worth documenting whenever you're ready. 🤍

The older my children get, the more I realize that the things I want to remember most aren't always the things I expected.

When I think about the memories I treasure most, it isn't necessarily the big milestones that come to mind first. It's the things they loved. The family traditions I didn't realize we were creating. The stories, values, and connections passed down from the people who came before them. The places that will always remind me of this season of life. The little details that feel so ordinary right now but somehow become the memories we treasure most later.

That's exactly what inspired something new I've created for this summer.

It's centered around preserving a season of childhood, not just a single portrait. Creating meaningful artwork that tells a deeper story about who your child is right now and the season they're living in.

This is a very limited experience, and I've chosen to offer it exclusively to my email list. If you're already subscribed, keep an eye on your inbox tonight around 8:00 PM. If not, there's still time to join through the link in my bio before the details are released.

This one feels especially meaningful to me, and I can't wait to share it. 🤍

Let's talk about what seems to be one of the biggest sources of stress when planning a portrait session: deciding what everyone is going to wear.

Whether you're expecting a baby, recently had one, or trying to coordinate outfits for the whole family, wardrobe can quickly feel overwhelming. What photographs well? What goes together without being too matchy? What fits right? What makes you feel confident?

That's exactly why I offer a client closet.

It includes dresses designed with pregnant and postpartum moms in mind, but it's not limited to maternity and newborn sessions. My client closet is available for both Simplicity and Signature sessions, and I also have a growing collection of clothing for little ones from newborn through 4T.

The best part isn't just having access to the clothing. It's having help putting everything together.

Every session includes session planning, including wardrobe consultation. Whether you're borrowing from the client closet or wearing pieces you already own, I'm happy to help you create a look for your portraits that feels cohesive, timeless, and true to your family.

My goal is simple: for you to show up feeling confident and excited about your session, not stressed about what you're wearing.

Baby's first year has a way of slipping by faster than anyone expects.

One minute you're bringing your baby home, and the next you're planning a first birthday party and wondering where the time went.

The sweet girl in these photos is a great example. I first photographed her when she was around 3 months old, then again once she started sitting up, and a few months ago we finished her first year plan with a birthday session.

What I love about a Milestone Membership is that it doesn't have to start with maternity or newborn portraits. If your baby is already here, it's not too late.

Whether your little one is 3 months old, 6 months old, or somewhere in between, we can create a custom membership that fits your family and the milestones you want to remember most.

This first year is going to pass whether it's documented or not. The question is: when your baby is all grown up, what memories do you want to be holding onto?

When your baby is born, everyone tells you how fast it goes...and they're right.

What nobody tells you is that it's the tiny things you'll miss first. The way their hand wraps around one finger, the little wrinkles on their feet, how they curl up against your chest, the way their newborn cry sounds different from every cry that comes after. By the time most parents feel like they're finally catching their breath, those little details have already started to change.

That's why newborn portraits aren't just about remembering what your baby looked like. They're about remembering what this season felt like. The exhaustion, the joy, the overwhelming love, and the realization that somehow your whole world changed overnight.

Years from now, your child won't care what brand of stroller you chose or what color you painted the nursery...and neither will you. What both of you will treasure are the photographs that contain the memories of how small they were, how they fit in your arms, and all of the little details that changed far too quickly.

That's what newborn photography is really about.

Family pictures have a reputation for being stressful.

Kids are expected to smile. Parents are hoping everyone cooperates. And more than a few moms show up worried about whether their children are going to "behave" for pictures.

The funny thing is that we spend a lot of the session just talking.

I'm asking questions, listening to stories, and figuring out what makes your kids laugh. Sometimes it's something funny they tell me that becomes our running joke for the rest of the session. Sometimes I make up a completely ridiculous story about them or give them a nickname. Sometimes I just keep bringing up something silly they said twenty minutes earlier because I know it's going to make them crack up all over again.

Before long, siblings are laughing together, parents are laughing too, and everyone is having a lot more fun than they expected.

Those genuine smiles you see in my images rarely come from me asking someone to say "cheese." They come from connection, kids feeling comfortable enough to be themselves, a little bit of silliness, and from creating a session that feels less like a task to check off the family to-do list and more like an experience you'll actually enjoy.

Memorial Day has always been a day of remembrance in our family. My dad served in the Marines, and because of him, I grew up understanding that freedom comes at a cost and that behind every flag is sacrifice, service, and families forever changed.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and legacy will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙
