I used to photograph a lot of environmental portraits, and it was fun to revisit that genre on a recent shoot with Dr. Chiara Seidl, CEO and Art Advisor of CS Art Partners, LLC.. The painting is by Sofia Borges, a Brazilian artist. Her striking work provided a compelling backdrop for the portrait and a reflection of Dr. Seidl’s work in the art world.

A beautifully designed space can fall flat if it is photographed without an understanding of how light shapes mood, texture, depth, and atmosphere. The right lighting does more than illuminate a room, it reveals the architect’s vision and the designer’s intent. Thoughtful lighting is what transforms a photograph from a record of a space into the experience of it.
