I’ve heard that quote a hundred times, but it hit differently this summer.⁣
⁣
Somewhere between sandy feet, late bedtimes, sunscreen battles, snack requests, and hearing “Mom!” for the millionth time, I realized something:⁣

These 𝘢𝘳𝘦 the good old days.⁣
⁣
Not someday.⁣
Not when life feels less chaotic.⁣
Not when the house is cleaner or the schedule is easier.⁣
⁣
Right. Now.⁣
⁣
The days that feel ordinary today will one day be the days we ache to remember. The way they laughed. The gap in their smile. The way they reached for your hand without thinking.⁣

We spend so much time trying to get through the hard parts that we forget we’re living inside the memories we’ll treasure most.⁣
⁣
That’s why family photos matter.⁣

On Friday night I read about a horrific crime that happened in our quiet neighborhood. Four lives lost to gun violence.

In the morning, as we were boarding a plane, my 13 year old started getting notifications from her friends.

The shooting took place at a fellow 7th grader’s house.

Their friend was gone. Just like that.

A friendly boy my daughter knows. He shared snacks with her while they walked home. A boy loved by so many, and our community was in shock.

My heart broke watching my daughter’s expressions as more news came in, and as our fears were confirmed. So many young lives were touched by one life and they are now trying to understand how- and why- he was taken so abruptly. So violently.

I have been saying yes to my girls because they get one childhood. And my oldest just lost a little bit of her innocence- the darkness of the world just seeped into her periphery.

So even though I know that the algorithm demands consistency to grow my audience, I have taken a few days to focus on these little lives I’m in charge of. I’ve been making memories, letting them live carefree, and soaking up summer.

I need my big girl to heal a little bit. To wrap her up in my arms and let her know she isn’t alone. Because while I may be a photographer, I’m a mama first.

The most meaningful images almost never come from perfectly posed smiles and everyone looking at the camera at the exact same time. They come from movement, connection, play, and letting your children be exactly who they are.⁣
⁣
When families tell me, “My kids are wild,” or “I’m worried they won’t cooperate,” I always say the same thing:⁣

I know this is a photography page buuuuuuttttt it’s MY photography page so I do what I want 💁🏼‍♀️

I got a rare girl’s night out this past weekend to see at and it was just what I needed!!

Mom life is tough and I’m posting this to remind all the mamas that you deserve breaks too. You should throw on your favorite dress, a little lipstick (I’m wearing Christina’s Perfect Red), and go enjoy yourself!!

Thank you to my love for the tickets to the show and for holding the fort down at home so that I could go be Mindy again- not just Mama 💋💋

Washington Park. Denver. Heaven on earth.

Just experienced this serene little area for the first time and oh my gosh. I’ll be back.

It’s such a sweet little oasis, perfect for family photos in Denver. I vow to bring more clients here- maternity photos, senior photos, family photos, couples photos… they’ll all do so well with the lush landscaping!!
