Capturing a dog running directly toward you at full speed is one of the hardest things for a camera's focusing mechanism - and a photographer - to do. It takes practice and precision and a little bit of luck. Sometimes an entire run will be off, sometimes you'll get a couple great shots in the middle... and sometimes the focus gods smile upon thee.

I try to keep everything I've ever photographed, so barring a disaster, photographs from even way back then are available if you need them 🩵

It was a Tuesday, so I had an early morning economics class. I remember coming back to the dorms and my roommate had the tv on. We sat in silence for the longest time, trying to wrap our heads around what just happened. Walking to my other classes, I kept looking up to the sky, wondering if another plane might hit our campus. 25 years later, rewatching the footage, I get the same sinking feeling in my stomach that I felt that day.

I know it's literally nothing compared to the people who were there, or had friends and family who were there, but I felt compelled to share my "where were you" on this somber anniversary.

The other recent The Bond Between Hospice Program session I'd like to share is Bumblebee.

This little buddy was deaf, had both eyes removed, and had a mystery condition that caused him to spin in circles constantly. He was declining quickly and they weren't sure we'd be able to get any good photos of him, but as he relaxed in his foster mom's arms I was able to capture some special moments for them before he passed.
