Eyes of Blue Dusk

A lovely short eared owl at dusk. I was on my way home after a slow shortie evening when I stumbled upon this guy perched so nicely. He sat for quite a bite before flying away. Captured in January of 2024 in Ohio.

I have 2 questions.

Does he know there’s a cute bird on his back?
And does he care that there is a cute bird on his back?

Oxpeckers (cute bird on his back) are little pest controllers. They eat ticks, flies and other parasites off rhinos and other large mammals.

We could probably use some Oxpeckers here in Ohio to help with the tick situation.

There was a whole lot of nothing going on; then all of a sudden Mom comes home with dinner and chaos erupts.
