Honoring Our Fallen

Beneath every flag that waves freely stands a story of sacrifice.

Today, we remember the sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, friends, and neighbors who never came home. Their courage was not measured by words, but by the lives they gave in service to others.

As we gather with family and friends, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those whose sacrifice made our freedoms possible.

Their watch has ended.
Our remembrance must not.

Well… after a month of waiting for proofs, they finally arrived — and unfortunately several major printing issues came with them. 😅

The good news:
✨ The interiors themselves printed well overall.
✨ The stories are intact.
✨ Lila officially exists as a real printed book character in the world.

The bad news:
🖤 The covers failed to print correctly.
📦 One book from the series was missing entirely from the shipment.
🛠 A few additional adjustments need made before I feel comfortable releasing these books the way they deserve.

Because of that, I’ll be pushing the publication date back slightly while I work through corrections and replacement proofs.

Honestly, this series has been a huge learning experience from start to finish — from creating the stories, to navigating independent publishing, to dealing with the realities of print production. While this delay is disappointing, I’d rather take a little extra time and release something I’m proud of than rush imperfect copies out into the world.

These roses were photographed on an iPhone 14 Pro and rendered into deep blacks, stripping away color and distraction until only shape remained.

✨📚 BIG UPDATE 📚✨

After months of writing, learning new digital illustration tools, figuring out book formatting and production software, and then an entire month in printing… my proof copies are finally SHIPPING and officially ENROUTE! 🚚💛

This 6-book journey has been a huge learning experience from start to finish, and seeing these stories become real physical books feels honestly surreal.

If everything goes according to plan, we are now just a few weeks away from publication and sharing Lila’s adventures with the world! 🌈✨
