Knowing the value of licensing our work, gaining a stronger sense of best business practices and how to protect your images are key factors in a successful career in professional photography.

This class shares practical, real-world strategies that include pricing, estimates, contracts, retainers and other key issues along with the value of copyright registration and a process that helps protect your images, your intellectual property that you create and own.

Learn about copyright infringements, how to preserve evidence, approach infringers and pursue payment without immediately resorting to costly litigation. The goal: protect your work, get paid, and, when possible, turn infringers into clients.

Cradoc software is one of ASMP sponsors and will be offering a 40% discount on their business software products to everyone who attends the class. We will raffle off a copy of Cradoc Photography Business Software - fotoBiz 11, a complete business management/CRM that includes fotoQuote Pro 8 pricing guide built-in: https://www.cradocfotosoftware.com/fotobiz/

Steve Whittaker is an architectural, interior and aerial photographer, based in the Portland Metro area, covering local, regional and national assignments. He started his career in 1980, joined ASMP in 1983, served on two local chapters as both a board member and chapter chair, served two terms on the ASMP National board and is Life Member of ASMP. https://www.whittpho.com/

Steve encourages both emerging and practicing professional visual artists and to get involved as advocates in promoting best business practices, supporting our community through ASMP and other professional trade associations and advocacy to further the business interests as professional visual artists.
