Wedding day weather: it’s the one major detail couples stress about the most, yet it’s the absolute last thing any of us can control. 🌧️✨

With my couples, I always prioritize building a rock-solid backup strategy. We can’t change the forecast, but I promise you I will always have plans A through Z tucked away in my back pocket.

This summer gave us a masterclass in unpredictable Pittsburgh weather, switching from blazing heat to sudden downpours in the blink of an eye! Both happened on Gretchen and Zach’s wedding day, but you never would have guessed it from their expressions.

Because we had every contingency in place, the smiles never left their faces. Instead of stressing over the skies, these two got to focus on what truly mattered: marrying each other, celebrating with their favorite people, and tearing up the dance floor. 💃🕺

Need a photographer who can help you build a wedding day that’s weatherproof? You’re in the right place ♥️

“This one is a couples skate.” 🎤🎶🛼

Ryssa and Collin wanted to take their engagement photos at the same place they had their first date, and it just so happened to be a roller rink. I spent so many weekends at the rink growing up, so the nostalgia and twinkling lights made this session just as much fun for me as it was for them.

Every photo from this session feels like a little glimpse into their story. It’s fun when a location isn’t just a backdrop—it already holds memories before the camera even shows up.

These two belong amongst the art. 🖼️

Briana and Hasson chose the art museum for their engagement session, and it couldn’t have been a better fit. Beautiful architecture, a setting that matched their vibe perfectly, and a location that elevated every photo.

That’s my biggest piece of advice when choosing a location: pick a place that feels like you, and your photos will too. This session was basically a Pinterest board come to life.

I can’t wait to photograph these two again on their wedding day next month 🤍

The internet is talking about Taylor and Travis but I’m here talking about Taylor and Josh 💍

We spent time exploring one of Taylor’s favorite parks to run, Mill Creek Park in Ohio. Can’t wait for their wedding in a few months!

First Look vs. First Touch 💍

If you’re planning your wedding, you’ve probably heard both of these terms—but what’s the difference?

A first look is when you see each other before the ceremony. It’s a private moment to take everything in, calm some nerves, and share a reaction that’s just for the two of you. Many couples choose a first look because it allows them to get portraits done before the ceremony and spend more time with guests afterward.

A first touch is when you connect before the ceremony without actually seeing each other. You might hold hands around a doorway, exchange letters, or simply take a moment to talk. Couples often choose a first touch because they want to save that first look for the ceremony while still having a quiet moment together beforehand.

The best choice? The one that feels most like you.

There’s no right or wrong answer. Some couples love the intimacy and extra time a first look provides. Others have always dreamed of seeing each other for the first time while walking down the aisle. Both create beautiful memories—and both can be incredibly emotional.

When you’re planning your timeline, think less about what everyone else is doing and more about how you want your wedding day to feel. 🤍

Emily and Winter chose a first touch and private vows before their spring wedding. It gave them a moment to get centered and connected while sharing a moment that was just for them.
