🎈✨ One of Those Moments That Feels Like Pure Luck!

Sometimes the best parts of this journey are the things you never planned for. ❤️

As luck would have it, I just happened to be about 20 miles from Columbus, Kansas, on the very night of their Glow Balloon Regatta Festival! How do you pass up an opportunity like that?!

I’ve always wanted to experience the famous balloon events in New Mexico, but somehow I’ve never made it happen. And then, completely unexpectedly, I found myself walking among these incredible balloons right here in Kansas. 🥹🎈

Pictures really don't do them justice. These balloons are SO much bigger than you can imagine! Standing beside them, seeing the colors glowing against the night sky, and being surrounded by all that magic felt almost surreal.

I love when travel works out this way. No big plans, no carefully scheduled itinerary — just following the road and stumbling into something unforgettable.

Sometimes the universe has a funny way of giving you a little taste of something you’ve always wanted, when you least expect it. ✨

Another unexpected adventure, another incredible memory, and one more reason I’m so grateful for this life on the road! ❤️🚐

🚗 Route 66 Took Me to Baxter Springs, Kansas! 🌈

Another stop along the Mother Road, and this one was full of history! Today I explored the iconic Rainbow Bridge and visited the Baxter Springs Heritage Center and Museum. ❤️

The Rainbow Bridge was a fun piece of Route 66 history to see in person, but the museum was the real surprise for me!

I absolutely love museums that go the extra mile to bring history to life, and this one does such a fantastic job. Instead of simply displaying artifacts behind glass, they’ve created themed spaces that help you imagine what life looked like back in the day. Every room has something different to discover, and the attention to detail is wonderful!

You could easily spend hours wandering through their collection of carefully curated treasures, noticing the little details and learning about the people and stories that shaped this area. I love places where you can tell someone put so much thought and care into preserving the past. 📸

Route 66 keeps reminding me that some of the best stops aren't the biggest or flashiest — they're the ones where you slow down and uncover a little piece of history you might otherwise have missed. 🛣️✨

✨ More Moments at Precious Moments Chapel 💕🕊️

I’m sharing a few more moments from my visit to the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri, because this place deserves a closer look!

Getting to tour the inside was such a special experience, and I found myself completely captivated by the attention to detail throughout the chapel. The beautiful stained-glass windows, the incredible murals, and all the little artistic touches make this place so unique. 🎨🌈

I could have spent so much time just looking up, noticing something new in every corner, and appreciating the care and creativity that went into bringing it all together.

Growing up with Precious Moments figurines made this visit especially meaningful, but seeing the artwork on this scale was something entirely different. It was beautiful, peaceful, and full of details worth slowing down for. ❤️

Sometimes the best part of traveling is taking your time and really looking — because there’s always something wonderful you might otherwise miss. 📸

💕 A Little Nostalgia in Carthage, Missouri! 🕊️

Some stops are about history, some are about nature, and some are about taking a little trip down memory lane. ❤️

I couldn't pass through Carthage, Missouri, without visiting the Precious Moments Chapel! I grew up with Precious Moments figurines, so seeing this place in person felt extra special. 🥹

The chapel is filled with the sweet, familiar characters and beautiful artwork that made these little figurines so memorable to me growing up. It was such a unique place to explore, and I loved getting to see how that beloved collection of childhood memories was brought to life on a much bigger scale.

It's funny how something from your childhood can bring back so many memories years later. This stop was a lovely reminder that travel isn't just about discovering new places — sometimes it's about reconnecting with pieces of your past, too. 💗

Another unexpected little gem along the road, and one that meant something a little more to me!

💚 Proud of the Hiker I’m Becoming! 🥾

One of the things I’m most proud of on this journey is how much more confident I’ve become as a hiker! And today, I put those hiking legs to work at Ha Ha Tonka State Park. 💪

I made my way down to Ha Ha Tonka Spring to explore the beautiful, deep, crystal-clear freshwater spring tucked into this gorgeous landscape. The water was stunning, the wildlife was out doing its thing, and the scenery made every step worth it. 💦🐦

BUT… let’s talk about the return trip. 😂

Because apparently, what goes down must come UP! And of course, my favorite thing in the entire world was waiting for me… STAIRS. Lots of stairs! 😩🤣

I may have questioned my life choices a few times on the way back up, but I did it! And that’s what matters.

A little more strength, a little more confidence, and another reminder that I’m capable of more than I sometimes give myself credit for. ❤️

Here’s to more trails, more adventures, and maybe just a few less stairs! 😂🥾

🏰 Who Knew There Was a Castle in Missouri?! 🌿

What a surprise at Ha Ha Tonka State Park near the Lake of the Ozarks! I came to explore the area and discovered the incredible remains of an abandoned estate perched high above the lake. Talk about an unexpected gem! 😍

Exploring the castle ruins, wandering around the stone water tower, and taking in those gorgeous lake views made this such a memorable stop. There’s something fascinating about walking through the remains of a place that once stood as someone’s dream estate and imagining what life must have been like here.

The combination of history, beautiful scenery, and those dramatic stone ruins was not what I expected to find at the Lake of the Ozarks, but it turned out to be one of the coolest surprises of the trip! 📸

This is exactly why I love exploring — sometimes the places you didn't know much about turn out to be the highlights. ❤️

🌲 Back to the Wilderness for a Couple of Days! 💚

After all the fun Route 66 stops, it’s time to trade the roadside attractions for a little nature and some peace and quiet! 🌳

Before settling into a couple of days in the wilderness, I explored Bagnell Dam at the Lake of the Ozarks. It’s pretty impressive seeing the dam up close and taking in the views around this beautiful Missouri lake! 🌊

I love that this journey lets me experience a little bit of everything — quirky roadside stops, fascinating history, and then a chance to get back out into nature. You never know what the next stop will bring!

Now it’s time to enjoy a little quiet, soak up the scenery, and see what adventures the wilderness has waiting for me. ❤️🐾

😂🍫 Well… I Had to Get My Fudge Packed in Uranus!

You can’t travel Route 66 without stopping at some of its wonderfully ridiculous roadside attractions, and this one definitely delivered! 🤣

The Uranus Fudge Factory was such a treat! Between the hilarious signs, quirky displays, and exploring the sideshow museum, there was plenty to see and laugh about. This place knows exactly how to have fun with its name, and I was here for it! 😂

And let’s get to the important part… YES, the fudge really was as good as advertised! 🍫🙌 I came for the laughs and left with a sweet treat. Now that’s what I call a successful road trip stop!

Route 66 never disappoints when it comes to the weird, the wonderful, and the completely unforgettable. 🛣️❤️

I’m loving all these fun little stops along historic Route 66! ❤️ Today’s adventures included a sweet treat at Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, exploring Cuba, Missouri, and checking out the famous Route 66 Rocker. Because what’s a road trip without a giant roadside attraction or two? 😂

There’s just something special about Route 66. The quirky landmarks, the nostalgia, the history, and all the unexpected places you stumble across along the way make the journey just as fun as the destination.

Of course, I had to stop for photos… because one more photo is never just one more photo! 📸
