Before our session day, we talked about what she wanted to remember most.
Not just photographs with her mother, but the feeling of being with her. The conversations over coffee. The laughter. The familiar rooms. The little details that make a person and a place feel like home.
So that’s what I focused on capturing—not just how their relationship looked, but how it felt.
I paid attention to the things that might seem ordinary today but become priceless over time: her mother’s hands wrapped around a favorite mug, the spaces where they spend time together, the stories shared across the table, and the comfort of simply being in each other’s company.
Years from now, I hope these images bring her right back to this season of life.
And selfishly, I walked away smiling.
As much as I love photographing babies, children, and young families, there was something incredibly sweet about documenting this chapter instead. Two grown women who genuinely enjoy being together. A mother and daughter who have built a friendship alongside their family bond.
I love opportunities to step outside my usual sessions and tell stories like this—because connection doesn’t become less meaningful as we get older. If anything, it becomes even more precious. 🤍
