Good morning, Wednesday! Right now, this very moment at 5:30 AM EST, my heart wants to be on the waterfront taking pictures of this sunrise. I fear it may be the last pretty one we have for a few days. But the forecasts aren't always accurate, so I'm doing what I think is the right thing to do for myself. I'm home. I went out yesterday AM, took some awesome pictures, and didn't end up accomplishing what I had planned. I have faith that's okay. Well, it'll have to be. I did manage to get a couple things ready for this next "to-do." It's a big one. Just think about the process the butterfly goes through to get it done...Today's a new day, and I rise with purpose.
Make your day great!

Morning Affirmation- Sam Wysock-Wright.
With hand on your heart, take a slow, deep breath, then say out loud...
I am safe. I am ready. I am open.
Good things are flowing toward me.
I trust the timing. I trust the process. I trust myself.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Happy September, everyone!
Looks like nature gave us a preview of the colors to come. Maybe? What a beautiful start to the month!

Good morning, Tuesday! This is one of the last pictures I took this morning. I left the waterfront moments before the sun came over the horizon. The tones that were once shades of rose had turned to gold. I don't often adjust the vibrance or saturation in an image. However, this time I made an exception and actually turned it down. At full strength, it just didn't look real. I look forward to posting the earlier pictures later in the week. If the forecast is correct, we might have some rain on the way. We'll see...

For over a decade, I sold Toyotas. Two of the stores (with the #9 & #10 volumes in the U.S.) moved well over 500 cars a month and had over 50 salesmen. They required us to go to training every month. I heard a lot of grumping from men who didn't want to go. Some of the classes were taught by world-class trainers who traveled the U.S. teaching. Much of it was boring or redundant, but I liked going because I could always find one priceless "nugget of gold" in the process. Some of that gold still shines within me today.

Not all of our days are completely awesome. But if you focus on that one spot in it that is the "nugget of gold", life is better.

Good morning, Monday! Some lucky lady got a gift that morning!
This morning, I'm counting mine. It's the last day of the month, and I'm so grateful for an amazing August. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Good morning again, Sunday! As much as I would have liked to have gone out this morning, I'm grateful that not doing it inspired me to look at my old folders for the previous post. In that folder, I found a gold nugget. Everything happens for a reason.
Time to "get at it"! (Like The Downeast Cowboy says.)

Good morning, Sunday! I wish I had gotten outside for sunrise this morning. It looked lovely from the webcams. Believe me, it tugged at my heart. However, I've resigned myself to the belief that I'm doing what I'm supposed to do to carry less with me as I move forward. I've been reorganizing (and "cleaning"), so I have less to step over, figuratively and literally, to get where I want to go. Life will be easier when it's done.
I have one friend who absolutely loves doing stuff like this next step. I envy her for that. The next "to-do" is, for me, like eating something you really dislike. (For me, that's 1960's huge mealy lima beans. I don't mind the baby ones.) She's the awesome kind of person who would happily come over and help. But some things you've got to do yourself. It's going to be an interesting next couple/few days. I'm refusing to put a timeline on it. I look forward to being on the other side of this task!
This morning, I've gone back 7 years to pick an image from the end of August to share. As I look at it, I think about how grateful I am for the path I've been on. That includes the challenges along the way and the times I fell down, because I kept going.
Time to do some "adulting". Thank you for understanding. I'll get back out soon, carrying less, and expecting it to show in my work.

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of the birds, the ebb and flow of the tides, the folded bud ready for the spring. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” -Rachel. Carson

"I generally avoid temptation unless I can't resist it." -Mae West.

This one was taken 13 minutes earlier, so it doesn't have quite as much Earth coverage. But there was a bigger opening in the clouds, which gave a clearer view, and I can see the stars. (visible full-screen)

Good morning, Saturday! There are a few inevitable things that happen. They're almost humorous, because you know they will. I'm talking about things like these:
As soon as you finally buy something you've been wanting to, it'll go on sale.
When you can't find something you need in your house, no matter how hard you look, the moment you replace it, you'll find it.
If you change lanes on the highway in traffic, the minute you do, the lane you were in will move.
If you wash your car, it'll storm even if it's not in the forecast.
You know what happens as soon as you put your snow shovel away. (Mine goes in the garage in mid-May. By April, I'm over it and don't want to tempt fate.)
I'm sure you can relate to one of these. Well, for a photographer, if we've taken a large volume of pictures of the same subject and are excited to share one, the moment we do, we'll find one we like better. This picture is one of those, and I usually don't post the "better" one, especially not back-to-back. This time I can't resist the temptation. Make your day great!

Good morning, Friday! I stood just outside my door and had several conversations with the clouds that kept getting in the way as they floated swiftly by. Some of them were wispy, very light, and low. They almost looked like heavenly beings. Others were bigger, thicker, darker, and higher in the sky. My little chat started off as a polite request and escalated into a plea for them to give me a break. I do mean a literal break (in the clouds). I could see different patches of clear sky with stars coming and going around me. And I asked if I could have a turn, and I was given one. Fortunately, my neighbors didn't turn their lights on to see who I was talking to...
When I was done, I expressed my gratitude for the beautiful sight I had just beheld and for not getting swarmed by mosquitoes. The one we had in March faded out as the sun rose, so getting to see some of this was a blessing. The sky may have gone completely dark, but I came back in the house carrying the light...
Make your day great!
