Atlantic Puffin, Knox County, Maine, 2024.

Good morning, Monday! Time for our annual quest for the elusive Atlantic Puffin. We have a date with several hundred of them and more. Looking forward to saying hello again and spending time with dear friends...

"Wing on Wing" at sunrise, Rockland Harbor, Maine, 6/10/2026.

Good morning, Sunday! Fate has a sense of humor. Whenever I don't bring with me what I consider to be my wildlife lens because it's so long, I inevitably see something that makes me wish I had it with me. I would have loved to have had a closer view of this sunrise sail, but alas, I have to believe, it was a private moment not meant to be intruded on. I wish you a beautiful moment... Make your day great!

FYI, "Sailing wing on wing involves positioning one sail on each side of the boat when the wind is directly behind it, creating two large surfaces to capture the wind and propel the boat forward." -Sailing Lifestyle.

From along the way... Local Lupine, 6/11/26.

This is the prettiest stand of Lupine that I've ever seen! It won't stop me from trying, and I'll keep looking, but it's going to take something mighty amazing to improve on these. I've got quite a challenge ahead of me.
I've already printed this 8x10 and 5x7 (on framable cards) and framed them both, including one for myself! Now, to decide how many I need for my gallery space at the Rockland Makers Market Store and for the Sunday Stroll on the 21st.
Before that stroll, there will be Puffins!!! It's a great day!

Imogen Cunningham (1883–1976) gained widespread acclaim in the 1920s and 1930s for her highly detailed, sharp close-ups of flowers and plants. In 1932, she co-founded the influential West Coast Group f/64 alongside famous photographers like Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.

Eastern Pheobe chicks, Knox County, Maine, 6/9/26. Thank you, George!

This morning, they're no longer in the nest.

"Eastern Phoebe eggs incubate for about 15 to 16 days. After hatching, the nestlings remain in the nest for another 16 to 20 days before they are fully ready to fledge." -allaboutbirds
This makes the entire nesting cycle—from the laying of the first egg to the young flying away—roughly 4 to 6 weeks.

Details of their nesting cycle:

Incubation: carried out solely by the female. -University of Michigan

Nestling Period: Both parents feed the young. While the chicks may be capable of short, fluttering flights by day 15, they usually do not leave the nest permanently until day 16 to 18. -Animal Diversity Web

Post-Fledging: After leaving the nest, fledglings often return to the nest area or perch nearby, and parents continue to feed them for another 2 to 3 weeks until they become fully independent. --Animal Diversity Web

Good morning, Saturday! "Picture anyone you'd like to be sitting in those chairs, and they're there." -Michael A. Mentuck.

Mike was my father's childhood best friend. They remained friends throughout their lives. I got my first digital camera after my father was gone, and started on this journey. Mike was kind enough to support me in my efforts. The first time I posted a pair of empty chairs, I stated it was a shame they were empty. His reply and his love live within me. This morning, I'm picturing both of them sitting there having Bloody Marys. You may think that 4:45AM was too early, but they wouldn't have once upon a time... Because of Mike, I never look at empty chairs the same way.

Lupine, Rockland Harbor, Maine, 6/10/26.

Good morning, Friday! Nine days ago, when I knew Lupine time was coming, I posted a picture from this location that I had taken five years earlier. Someone said that picture couldn't be topped, which was an awesome compliment. I thanked them and told them it wouldn't stop me from trying. Try, try, try... It really didn't have to be "better". Just seeing and being in the middle of Lupine makes me happy, so here they are for you to be in the middle of. See it to be it... Make your day great!

"And now, the rest of the story..." -Paul Harvey.
When my Grandmother met my now (very long-ago) ex-husband for the first time, she asked him what the biggest issue he saw in me was. He quickly replied that I was stubborn. She paused for quite a moment and said to him, "Our people founded this country and are strong-willed. We're not stubborn. Stubbornness is when you're unwilling to learn or try a different way. She's determined and sometimes relentlessly. We don't wait for things to happen. We make them happen! That's how this country got founded!" Oh, how I love my Gram for everything she gave me. I don't speak about her in the past tense because her love lives on within me every single day. Sending that same love your way.

"The Sphere" by Studio Jbone, Rockland Harbor, Maine, 6/10/26.

Good morning, Thursday! Taken yesterday morning, this image's foreground is "The Sphere". It's one of many created by Studio Jbone. I've been blessed to see other pieces that people commissioned him to make looking incredible in their new environments.
The beauty of any art is that it can mean different things to different people and different things to ourselves at different times. This morning, I'm interpreting this as the circle of love we all have within us, and the bond that unites us as we let go of the negative. Even on a gray day, you can get a sunburn. I choose to send out love, beauty, and light! Be kind to yourself...
Make your day great!

Sunrise as seen in the windows of Newty's Ice Cream on the Harbor, Rockland, Maine, 6/10/26.

Is it wrong that I'm craving a black raspberry ice cream at this hour of the morning? It is about the color of these Lupine after all...

"See the things that you want as already yours. Know that they will come to you at need. Then let them come. Be not impatient and doubt not." -Robert Collier.

Rockland Harbor, Maine, 6/10/26. Taken from Owl's Head.

Good morning, Wednesday! Last night, as I gave thanks and proclaimed my gratitude for the day, I then set my intentions for today. Having been up in the middle of the night for a couple of hours, it would have been easy to not go out this morning. I was comfortable with the window open, and the fresh cool breeze making me feel comfy under the comforter. I looked at the we**am and said out loud, "Time to go... NOW!" And, I did.

Gratefully, I made it just in time. I'm posting crops of the same exact image. They're posted in order, with the last one being the full view. Scroll on through... I wish I had taken the first one with the longer lens, but I'm thrilled that it was part of the bigger picture. When there's so much beauty around, it's often hard to decide.
See it to be it, and make your day great!
