imagine this landscape in the dead of night and me with only a small flashlight and you've got the capper on my first night in jamaica back in 2014- i had walked ( about 40 minutes) into treasure beach to watch the superbowl game- later after numerous red stripe beers and other fun :) i ventured back to my resort only to realize not a damn thing looked familiar in the dark versus the day when i'd marked out several critical landmarks- suddenly i was on this very streetch of road wondering WTF was i ?!?- i was feeling a bit panicky until i realized that ther is no dangerous wildlife on the island and no mosquitoes that evening- i figured "worse comes to worse, i'll sit down next to a tree until sunrise- but fortuitously i glimpsed a light ahead just off the path- there were a couple pit front of their home who i fortunately received explicit directions back 1/4 mile to my accomodations- i was never so happy to get somewhere as when my feet hit the floor of my room (an hour and 45 minutes after i began my journey back) quite an adventure hahaha

Flashback- photos beginning with "year 1" of my photography journey- i actually began this journey in about 1973 when i purchased a used Yashica rangefinder 35mm camera- began in earnest in 1983 when i bought a Canon AE-1P 35 mm kit and enrolled in several photography classes at Metro State University- flash ahead to 2011 when shortly after my career with the USPS came abruptly to an end and i'd just won a large union grievance settlement due to this and i was finally able to purchase a top notch Nikon DSLR kit which launched me into a several year frenzy of putting it to use - i conceive this to be the time i began to take my hobby to another level- i was a pro sometimes making a couple bucks here and there, getting published occasionally, but i was able to shoot as i please generally and found myself gravitating towards event photography mostly for the opportunity to shoot the many interesting people i discovered while covering cultural and artistic events- enjoy the parade of images i'll begin with one from 2012 of a lady enrolled in an ESL class at Arlington Hills Lutheran church in St Paul. It was a day designed for each culture to show it's best attire, foods, games etc
