There’s something so special about getting everyone together....kids, grandkids, and even great-grandkids...all in one place.

And getting to photograph this family was even more meaningful because I’ve known this family since I was 5 years old. These are the photographs that become family treasures. The ones that tell the story of where you came from, who you’ve raised, and the love that continues through every generation. 4 generations is pretty dang amazing!

5 reasons you should take family photos with your older kids......

1. They’re still your babies. Even if they’re taller than you now, they’ll always be your kids.
2. This stage goes FAST too! The teenage years can feel like they’re dragging, but somehow you blink and they’re graduating.
3. Their personalities are changing. They’re becoming the people they’re meant to be, and it’s worth remembering who they were right now.
4. They won’t always all be under one roof. Someday, getting everyone together for a family photo will be much harder.
5. You’ll want these photos later. Not just pretty pictures...but proof of the people you loved most, together in one place, during this exact season of life.

You don’t need little kids to justify family photos. Your family is worth documenting at every age. I still have a few fall mini's left so grab one before it's too late!

Bring the lovey!

If your little one has a favorite blanket, stuffed animal, or tiny best friend they can’t go anywhere without bring it to their session! These little comforts can help them feel safe, settled, and completely themselves in front of the camera.

And honestly? Those photos of them snuggled up with their favorite lovey may end up being some of your favorites.

Today is my daughter's 1st diaversary! She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a year ago today! We are not celebrating diabetes but rather her and us for surviving this first year. I won't lie it hasn't been easy.

Being a T1D parent means grieving the life you thought your child would have while fiercely fighting to give them the beautiful life they still deserve. It means carrying fear, but choosing hope anyway. It means loving your child so deeply that you would trade places with them in a heartbeat if you could.

This journey is heartbreaking. It's exhausting. It's relentless.

But it is also the greatest privilege of my life to be her mom...to stand beside her through every high and every low, every victory and every setback, and to remind her every single day that diabetes does **not** define who she is.

To our sweet girl... We wish every day that this wasn't your story. But if this is the path we're on, I promise you'll never walk it alone. I am endlessly proud of you and the incredible young lady you've become this past year. Your strength amazes me. Your resilience inspires me. You are so much bigger than Type 1 Diabetes.
One year down. A lifetime to go... or even better a cure!
