“We’ll do it when things slow down” is how years go by without a family photo.

There’s never a perfect season. The kids are always a little older than you planned. The newborn phase passes faster than anyone warns you. And the version of your family that exists right now, this age, this season, won’t exist later.

I hear from families who say they kept meaning to book and just never did. And I get it. Life is full and the seasons fly by. But those same families are also the ones who, after their session, say it was the best decision of the year.

You don’t need everyone to be perfectly dressed or the kids to cooperate flawlessly. You just need to show up. I can take care of the rest.

If you’re ready to finally have photos that look like your real, beautiful family, head to the link in my bio to inquire. I’d love to connect and find the right session for you.

I had the best time working with New River Valley Orthodontics in Radford, VA! Recently we photographed their team headshots, interior office space, and aerial footage of their location. They were the friendliest team to work alongside of!

Congratulations to Madison Smith, DDS, MS on her new adventure! 🦷

Some clients walk in as strangers. And some walk in that you haven’t seen in 10+ years!

I hadn’t seen Nicole since we were kids. Growing up, our moms were best friends. We crossed paths over the years, then life moved our families in different directions and states away.

10+ years later, an inquiry lands in my inbox. Not only is Nicole engaged, but she’s marrying a man who lives right near my family in Virginia. What a small world!

I obviously was checking my calendar to make this work before I finished reading the email. I planned a trip to see my family and we scheduled their engagement photos around it.

We met for their engagement photos at Claytor Lake on a calm, overcast evening. The weeping willow by the water, soft light, no rushing. We caught up like no time had passed at all, and I got to meet her soon-to-be husband, Derek.

It was one of those sessions that reminds me why I do this. Not just to make beautiful photos, but making connections, seeing life come full circle, and being trusted to document love stories.

It was great catching up with these two and I’m so excited for their wedding next summer!

You don’t have to know what to do showing up to your session.

Most families show up with some version of the same questions running in the back of their head: where do I put my hands, should I be looking at the camera, are we supposed to be walking or standing here.

I’m already watching for the answers before you need to ask.

I’m paying attention to where the light is, noticing where you feel natural, where the little ones are running off to in about four seconds, and how to get you from this spot to the next one without it feeling like a directive photoshoot.

My goal isn’t to pose you the entire session, but to guide an experience for you and your loved ones to spend time together, feel like yourselves, and walk away with beautiful photos. 🤍

What’s something you have questions about before your session, or where do you feel like you need a helping hand during photos? I’d love to hear below. 👇🏻

Becoming a mom changed how I view family photos.

Before having kids, I thought a “good“ session was everyone cooperating and smiling at the camera on the first attempt. Today, as a mom of two young boys, I know that rarely happens and parents shouldn’t feel bad about that. It’s not a bad session, it’s a normal family session. I promise.

We want the genuine giggles, smiles, and personality shining in their photos. Which may include running around and exploring their surroundings. We still get the polished, traditional shots, but the candids are just as frame worthy.

Motherhood changed how I work with newborn families too.

I’ve been through the postpartum chapter. I know what it takes to get everyone ready for a session when the baby is less than two weeks old, the siblings are still adjusting, and you haven’t slept. I’m not there to add to your pile, I’m just there to make it easy and capture these beautiful, fleeting days that may feel like a blur down the road.

I’m Randi, Tampa family photographer. If you want to work with someone who gets what your season of life looks like right now and isn’t phased by the day-to-day family chaos, the inquiry form is in my bio. 🩵

That hallway wall you’ve been meaning to do something with for three years…

You know the one. Or maybe it’s the staircase that needs to be brought to life. Maybe it’s the big blank space in your new living room that has a small print and somehow makes it look emptier than it did before.

You love the idea of putting family photos there. You’ve just never known where to start. What size, frame, how many, what works together in your current space…

That’s what I’m here for!

After your session, we won’t just talk about which images you love. We’ll talk about where they’re going to live. I’ll show the frame samples and album cover materials so you see what works for your home before anything gets ordered.

We design it together. For your space, your walls, the room your family will fully enjoy them in for years to come.

The frames are beautiful. The prints are archival quality. And once they’re up, you walk past them every single day, ready to be fully enjoyed and out of your camera roll.

What room in your house has been missing something on the wall?

Anniversary photos, because every year is worth celebrating. đź’š

Your favorite photos from your session deserve more than a gallery link that gets downloaded and stored away.

Instead, let’s make something heirloom-worthy. 🖼️

You select the photos that speak to you, and they get master retouched for printing.

How do you want to enjoy them? Do you love a large wood framed print for over the couch? A premium leather album on your coffee table?

That’s what I want for every couple I work with. Not photos that sit, waiting to be looked at but fully enjoyed and living in your home with you for years to come.

A senior mom asked, “Are you sure this isn’t too much?”

Here’s what I told her.

We were on a call going through locations, outfits, and what her son wanted to include in his session. At some point she stopped and said, “Are you sure this isn’t too much? This feels like asking a lot.”

Your senior is never going to be this age again. Their hobbies and interests, the way they dress, their favorite places may change in the coming years. We want to document who they are today.

So yes, we can do multiple locations. Yes to the outfit change. Yes to building a portrait session around who they are right now.

Not as a checkbox, but as record of who they are in this moment.

If you have a senior at home and you’ve been wondering if it’s okay to want more out of your session.. it is more than okay, it’s the whole point. 🫶🏻

If you’re looking for a senior photographer in Tampa this fall, the inquiry form is linked in my bio.

Family chaos is actually my favorite thing to shoot.

You’ve been bribing your kids since Tuesday. Someone already has a stain on the outfit you bought specifically for this. And now you’re standing in front of a photographer trying to look natural while your toddler is mid-meltdown and your husband is doing that thing where he smiles but his eyes are somewhere else entirely.

I get it. I have two young, energetic boys. I know exactly what it looks like when a kid has hit their limit.

Here’s what I want you to know before you ever book a session with me: that’s not a session gone wrong. That’s just a regular session. And I’ve been showing up in the middle of that chaos long enough to know exactly when to click the shutter.

My job isn’t to get your family to stand still. It’s to learn about your kids before we ever show up, pick a location that gives them room to be themselves, and get the shot even when it doesn’t feel like a “picture perfect” moment.

Families deserve magical photos. Chaos and all.
What was your biggest worry heading into your last family session?
